Apparently, there is a "fix" for the rasping noise made by the hydraulic clutch. The fix is not available yet as they have to "produce the part" and they have only just finished testing it on no less the 4 vehicles.

As soon as it becomes available, I will let you know if the fix works and post up the part no. if I can get it.

I will keep you posted!!

Germany 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Cairns Blue

Hi AngelXXX,

I have been away for a little while but am back now (stating the obvious Smile ).

My car is going in on Wednesday/Thursday so they can fit this part that SHOULD cure the rasping noise. (The rasping noise that ZF assured was not due to anything with the transmission and the same noise that the area Landrover rep could not hear). By the way, the area rep (Deaf bloke from Landrover) has retired and a new bloke has taken over though I have not met him).

I am hoping to get a "knocking noise" from the back end fixed. I have read the thread about the knocking noise but I do not have ARC just DSC. The dealer could not hear the noise but he thinks, from my brilliant description, that it could be the anti-roll bar bushes.

I have had my coolant bottle replaced due to the low-coolant light coming on too!!

It seems that my taking in a bag of doughnuts for the techies works, the dealership has been superb in all of this!!! Razz

I forgot, but today, parked up at the railway cross junction was what looked like a new BMW M3 coupe. Heavily disguised and with a notebook on the dash that was plugged into the dash. Pity I did not have my camera.

Last week, near Stuttgart, there were no less than 3 heavily disguised Audis too! It is great living down here as BMW and Audi do loads of testing on the small country roads!!

Ok, my car has gone to the dealers for a couple of days to get the "rasping/chain"noise in the gearbox fixed.

It will be a 9 hour gearbox strip today and tomorrow the area rep for Landrover plus a "team" from ZF transmissions will be fitting a new torque convertor in the hydraulic clutch. It will be a redesigned part that is now being fitted on all the vehicles coming off the production line. I hope it works.

Also being fitted, due to a knocking noise from the car, are new anti-roll bars and bushes.

Hopefully the work will now give me a quieter car!!! Thumbs Up

I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I also thought that it was just the cars with ARC that had anti-roll bar noise problems. I do not have that (just DSC) and I still managed to get the noise. Fortunately, my dealer being superb, ordered the relevant parts when I told them over the phone (before they had tested it themselves) as they seemed to think I know what I am talking about Shocked Laughing

Now you are beginning to worry me. I am sure it will be fine as I have total confidence in my dealership and ZF (though not the deaf, Landrover area rep)!! Surprised

Okay, my gearbox (transmission) is now in pieces. Is it that complicated to replace the torque convertor and has anyone got any horror stories? Shocked

I will also repost this link as it seems to be popular (though I had no idea there were so many "normal" people on this site that would appreciate it) Laughing

Don't worry about it C
Just get another cold beer and keep looking at your nice pictures.
No its quite simple to remove the torque convertor, problem is the transmission has to come out to get to it because its bolted onto the back of the engine.
If the transmission is in pieces its because the clutch linings, or clutch drums, or the valve body are having a modification.
Just keep looking at the pics. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.
