That is exactly how my noise started and it has progressed to most of the gears. With the windows down in a built up area, it is well loud. (well, it is not loud enough for your deaf mate though!!! )

Let me know what happens and we may be able to hassle your mate on a sort of "joint venture"!

I live in the small village as it is a great place to live. My wife is from Koblenz and had an opportunity to come and work over here. (The problem is that she spends a lot of time away in place like Johannesburg, Tel Aviv, somewhere in India, Kuala Lumpar, Singapore, USA etc). We like the winter and her father has a place in Weisenbach (Austria) near Schladming that we spend time in too. It was easier to live here than the UK. We dont like cities and like the laid back village life. I will e-mail you a web link later.

I suspect your problem may be similar to the one I am experiencing with my car. It has been in countless times for diagnosis without success, until Monday this week.
The dealer arranged for a LR technician to be there and he immediately identified the problem as a "known" resonance problem emminating from the engine. They are working on a fix, but at this moment, they don't have one.
The resonance comes through the steering wheel as well as the gearbox and sometimes it is worse than others. Two dealers have claimed there was nothing wrong
I'll let you know of any developments.

Excellent, keep me in touch and I will do likewise. seems that it is a fairly common problem that our area Landrover rep either does not know about or is just in denial about

My problem down to a T!!! Don't know how many times I've been told this is "within limits" or "can't fault the car" by both dealer and LR. Really interested to hear any resolution on this one. RRS TDV6 Bluetooth, VR, Roof

Hi Angel,

ok, I think we need to do something about this. I received the report from your mate Klaus and it basically says that the customer is hearing a noise that they take seriously and it will be monitered to see if it gets worse!!

The reply is not good enough as it implies that the noise is minor and can only really be heard by the customer..........not true and not good enough.

I am going to formulate a stinging reply to the aforementioned report (using my knowledge of the car industry) and try and get them to actually take the fault seriously and come up with a fix. I will post my letter up here when I have finished it.

I also think that you and others with the problem should tell the respective dealers about each other, giving names of dealers and the contact name within the dealers so they know that it is a common problem and trying to fob us off with "its normal, all cars have it, it is only a small noise and if the air con is up high it is not very noticeable, etc etc" will not suffice.

The stupid thing is that if one of the dealers actually finds the fault and they or LR come up with a fix, the dealer concerned gets a lot of smarty points from LR which are extremely important to the dealers!

Feel free to give your dealership my name and other details as it will help both you and me.
