Andrew, take a look at the picture showing the underside of the seat, there are 4 torn head bolts that hold it down, 2 about 6" from the front of the seat and 2 about 3" from the rear of the seat. If you look from the rear footwell you will see 2 of the bolts,,,, that will give you an idea of what your looking for from the front. You will have to remove the plastic kickplate from the front of the seat to gain access,,,,, just give it a good yank. Once the 4 bolts are out the seat Base just lifts out. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Nothing to worry about, I didn't disconnect the battery when I did mine,,, gives you the option to move the seat as well 2010 RRS, TDV8

Thanks for this thread, very useful. As the seat cushions where ok, I ended up just swapping the seat bases over (moving the occupancy sensor). Whilst its not quite so nice to look at on the side, its perfectly acceptable for no cost at all.

I've considered that myself. It actually makes sense to have a more flexible material on the side of the seat cushion - perhaps less likely to crack in future? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes this material is much more flexible than the original (I dont think its leather or if it is, its very fragile) that is normally on the outside of the seat.

I bit the bullet and changed my seat bases over today... thankfully I didnt offer up a sacrifice to the blood gods... I must have come close though as there are plenty of sharp edges under the seat.
I also used cable ties in place of hog rings, it will make it so much easier to repalce the foam base that is now on the passengers side when I can find one... I have my eye on one from the USA with the right cover on it as well but it is nearly A$400 delivered... It would probably cost at leat that to have it repaired and the foam bolstered by a good Motor Trimmer... this will work for me for now.

If anyone’s considering this job it might be worth hoiking the full seat out. The Torx head bolts are made of cheese and very shallow. Taking the seat out is easy - 6 Torx bolts under 4 black plastic covers (2front, 4 rear). This allows much easier access and the use of penetrating fluid.

They are very tight and I’m replacing mine with Allen deep head bolts.

I’m also fitting an aftermarket heated seat kit, which is very easy and ideal if your car didn’t come with heated seats originally.

My bases came out really easy... apart from the damage to my hands lol

Hi Folks,

Just a quick question as I'm getting confused, with regards to the seat pad, I ordered HGB500050 but then reading this thread I should have ordered LR021399.

I amended my order but now googling the LR021399 part number, it seems to show 4 pieces of foam the fit to the seat pad and not an entire seat pad on the BritCar site

But looking at JLR Classic Parts webpage, they show LR021399 as the entire base pad.

Would someone please able to clarify which part number I need for my 2010 RRS HSE as I would like to replace the entire base seat pad.
