I've had my 3.0 MY10 for a year now and only average 26mpg. Nothing like its meant to. |

It might have something to do with the extreme cold december we've just had, i'm sure it will improve when it gets abit warmer.

Similar to what peeps D3side are reporting for the last year or so with 3.0l D4s. Unfortunately nowt to do with being cold, they are plain thirsty. |

I can confirm that my 2010 3 litre averages between 26 & 27 mpg. TBH I'm not surprised or concerned, the RRS is nearly 3 tonnes of car! I don't think I've ever owned a car (Land Rover or any other) that actually gets the fuel

I would say that my Vogue definitely has worse consumption on short journeys when the weather is very cold at least 1,2 mpg less. |

Cold weather is better for performance not mpg.

If you are using supermarket fuels all the time then try changing over to the "regular" (as opposed to "Ulitmate" or "V-Power" diesel) from one of the oil majors and run it for a couple of months on branded fuels. Changing from solely using Sainsbury's best to Shell regular diesel saw my TDv8 consumption improve by 2-3mpg over a 4 month/ 5000 miles period and since then I have never put a drop of supermarket fuel into the tank. The price difference per litre of branded over supermarket diesel is also very small these days too - 1p per litre at the most. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

BLH - Let us know how you get on with LR. I agree that its unacceptable for LR to post figures that it seems no one is capabile of achieving. |

Cold air is more condensed, giving the Engine (Petrol and Diesel) more oxygen thereby creating more power per fuel added, the result is both increased performance and Economy! |

when an engine is cold esp Diesel they use far more fuel than a petrol both out TDV8's do 2-3 less to the gallon when its very cold esp on short journey stuff , so does our Msport BMW 3 diesel and as for the wifes 3.0 V6 D4 Diesel hmm well lets just say it just about match's the TDV8 2014 5.0SC AB Gone 5.0 SC |
