There are lots of non qualified mpg numbers in this thread which I assume are from the trip comp. If so remember it lies/over-reads by 2 - 5 mpg. Well you didn't by a LR (well D3 in drag) to save da planet!! Ner Ner Ner Ner

Could be worse - we could have bought the fat ugly (unrefined, hillbillie) sister (D3/4) - but we had style and bought the sport - which was what the chassis was made for.

the mpg calculator is a misnomer - all car ones arent that accurate - but then neither are some of the other software ones - fill your car up by a few l's or to different levels and you can make your mpg change.

The pre-heater takes an mpg or two out of the system.

Anyway mine doesnt seem to over-read in real terms, as it provides more miles for less fuel than the calculated 29mpg car! Mike

Agree the inbuilt mpg monitor is an indication not a calibrated result but 3 weeks into my 3.0 V6 I cant get it above 23mpg.

Just did Ayrshire to Aberdeen and tried a couple of settings (with a warm engine) and at avg speed of 65mph I still only get 22.5 in Dynamic on cruise and 23 in Drive and cruise. Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

Alex,
I had exactly that problem on my MY2000 MB E320cdi straight 6 engine,I'd taken it in for service and was asked to pop into the workshop, there was a channel running full length of the engine which the injectors sat in,it just looked as if someone had pored chocolate cake mixture in the channel and cooked it at gas mark 8.About 3 foot long 3inches thick block of black gooey mess, they broke 1 injector chiselling it out and subsequently needed another which failed later and had to have the head off to re-thread the holes that the injectors were screwed into, total cost about £1500 with a warning that it wasn't cured so got shut PDQ.

hhhmmm, that is normal for a mercedes e320, i should know, i had mine for 5 years, the problem is caused by the injectors seats lifting, mercedes fitted small bolts, that over time stretch, hence the injectors lifting, you can always tell when one is leaking, the cabin has an eggy smell. the cure is to have bigger bolts fitted, which mercedes now do.
i had 4 of the 6 helicoiled over the 5 years that i had it, it is a time consuming job, but if done correctly, the injectors do not break, the total cost was just under £400 for 4 injectors to be reseated over 5 years. 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

That's interesting,I think the problem with mine is that by the time it was spotted the injectors were embedded in the thick carbonisation and they broke them trying to get them out. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Had the car in at the local dealers (dealers Bryan, no sarcasm yet Wink ) and the mpg on my latest trip south was 26 - 27 mpg. Seemed a software update check did the business. Thanks T&C Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

Over 4000 miles my MY11 RRS has averaged 28.3 mpg according to the computer, all on A and B roads with no motorway driving. I haven't checked the mileage against actual fuel used.

I am convinced that how the running in period is done has a big effect on future performance and consumption figures.
