My air con on the drivers side is not blowing cold air but it is on the passenger side, main dealer says its low gas pressure so there's a leak somewhere. If there's a leak then is seems it will be under warranty but if not and its just deterioration they want £500+ to re-gas. Is this the sort of price what you would expect as I've seen re-gassing at considerable lower prices than that.  RRS2 HSE Chile Red

Just paid £120 to have min e leak tested and refilled it was 2 small o rings gone by an expert get a mobile to have a look first before committing to a big bill

There doesn't seem to be any experts here in the Midlands, main dealer also quoted me the same price, a local air con only place did it for £150 but both say there is no leaks and they have tested it 3 times and charged me £150 each time. Mine has the same issue with driver side blowing warm and passenger side cold.

Well from what you say it has lost gas as mine did this also my megane did as well and each time it was because the gas had leaked slowly so if they have done it and it no longer works then i say it has a leak and its probably the same as the one you had before

It does sound like it but it does seem there is no where in the area that actually knows what to do with air con. They only know how to fill and charge people

Mine was a mobile guy who my mate in his garage uses and he was very good as you cant substitute experience he new what it was before he got to my Renault after what i told him over the phone

Wish I could find someone that someone recommends after using them. After two places, costing me over £500 and no closer to the problem, I want someone that actually knows what they are doing.

I just been all over the front of the car, underbonnet with a UV light I found, no signs of anything illuminuse???
You would think in the Midlands, next to where the car was built, someone would know!

this is what the dealer should be doing.

1 Charge the air conditioning system with nitrogen
2 Isolate the nitrogen supply
3 Monitor the pressure gauge and check for leaks for 30 minutes

Has the source of the leak been identified?
Yes
Rectify the leak as necessary. Install a new receiver drier. Using the manufacturer approved equipment, evacuate and recharge the air conditioning system with the correct quantity of refrigerant and oil

GO to A2.

A2: LEAK TEST 2

1 Using the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Equipment, evacuate and recharge the air conditioning system with the correct quantity of refrigerant and oil

2 Using the Jaguar Land Rover Approved refrigerant leak detector, check for a refrigerant leak

Yes
Using the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Equipment, recover the refrigerant. Repair the leak as necessary. Evacuate and recharge the air conditioning system with the correct quantity of refrigerant and oil

If it is cold on one side and not the other unless there are two separate air conditioning systems one for each side, how can low gas cause one side to be cold and not the other, as it is a sealed system it will either pull the temp down or it won't, and surely the actual air con system itself has no bearing on where the air is distributed to as that is controlled by the distribution flaps, blowers etc. of the heating and ventilation system. Has anybody checked the flap actuators, temp sensors, blend motor positions etc. or whatever they are called these days. I thought this could be checked using the Gap diag. tool, mind you I could be talking absolute rubbish

Take your car to Chris at Venture 4x4, Shipston on Stour armed with all the info and experiences you have had with your air con to date. The techs there know LR inside out and will sort your problem. I’m that confident with their ability, they REALLY know their stuff

My car did that one side cold the other not my guy said the system works with just 50 grams but will not cool but will work and as soon as he found the leak fixed it and refilled it both sides were cold again in laymans terms there is pressure/gas but not enough to cool the complete system
