Sorry but breaking into tears is God's way of saying "Life is too short, move on". If you have money to burn simply buy another when it goes wrong - it is what most of my mates do but then the shotguns cost more than the car and Grouse is £200/brace. You have had three years of problems with a new car but I have had 10 year's of trouble free motoring across Europe in a 50 year old E-Type convertible. Even my Lotus is more reliable than a Range Rover. Cut your losses, enjoy life and buy something that works every day. If you want regular problems, I can recommend several very expensive cars that will fit the bill. '10 Range Rover Sport TDV8

No, you are in denial. Keep the RRS for going shooting/hunting (after you get bored with talking about the quality of the birds, you can talk about Range Rover!) and buy something else for business. I had a Purdey which let me down so many times I ditched it and bought Boss & Co - superb! The B5 is my business tool, the sports car are for fun and the RRS I bought out of gulit because everyone else had one. But hey, 700 miles and not a problem! I've had 18 months trouble free motoring in mine, I'd go as far as saying it is the best car I've ever had, mine being an SE it has much less to go wrong with it ! The only thing I wish I'd got was the premium leather! I bought mine in that spec as I was woried I would be left at the roadside, but it has never happened! I have a friend who wishes he bought an RRS instead of a Q7 MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps!

It's hard for others to say what would suit others especially when the RRS ticks so many boxes. It does sound like the dealer is the one letting you down, STOP been nice to them in the service department, make them know how they have made your experience of RRS ownership be the worst buying experience ever.

A red 'anything' on a shoot would be bad - it will scare the birds although give cause for endless amusement with the other Guns. I was out earlier this week and the RRS sitting amongst all the FFRR's made the latter look - portly shall we say. My experience is: Big Daddy - Guns with big ego's; walnut drinks cabinet taking up all of the boot; no room for passengers so just owner and his loader Defender - pulling the game cart Disco 3 / 4 - pickers up and their dogs Volvo VX90, Toureg, RRS, Explorer, Land Cruiser etc - good down to earth shots and fun to be with "Strict rules of shooting Mr Bond" '10 Range Rover Sport TDV8 '97 Porsche 993 C2 '69 Lotus Elan S4 '63 E-Type Jaguar Open Two Seater |

Foxy, just lifted this from the honest John website - possibly may be useful to you?? Relates to returning a car; You have to invoke the Sale of Goods Act 1979 Part II Section 14, as modified by the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, subsequently modified by the Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994, contending that the supplier is in breach of contract to you for supplying a car which was not "of satisfactory quality", or did not remain so for a reasonable period of time. Appeal Court Case law (Bernstein v Palmerston Motors 1987) has held that the supplier must be given three chances to rectify the fault for which the goods are rejected and must have failed to do so. The goods must be returned to the supplier together with all keys and paperwork. (Scott and Scott v Blade Motor Company 1997.) And the supplier (in the case of a car the dealer principal of the dealership) must be sent a letter by recorded delivery detailing why the car has been rejected as not "of satisfactory quality". Case law (Rogers v Parrish 1987) has put a limit of 6 months on the time you can successfully reject a car and obtain a full refund, though lesser refunds, taking account of mileage covered, may be obtained outside that period. The price you pay compared to market value will be taken into account. One of my first company cars was successfully returned to Peugeot as for the 7 months I'd officially had the car it had been in the garage for 4 of those months. My fleet manager at the time said she (& Dial) had never known a car be bought back by the manufacturer after such a long period. They offered me another 406 with extra bits etc.....but I chose a Golf GTI instead - much better overall and could still tow the speedboat |
