England 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Siberian Silver

Thats the best bit, I turned up at the delership this morning to the promised evoque up but guess what the service guy Paul had only gone and fudged the wheel on the way into work as he took it home and hey presto. I had a wasted trip into dealership as it was on the ramp being fixed, as they were having to put 4 new wheels on it to make sure it was perfect.

So as you can see this is why hes not my fav person at the moment. Smile

Sorry but breaking into tears is God's way of saying "Life is too short, move on". If you have money to burn simply buy another when it goes wrong - it is what most of my mates do but then the shotguns cost more than the car and Grouse is £200/brace. You have had three years of problems with a new car but I have had 10 year's of trouble free motoring across Europe in a 50 year old E-Type convertible. Even my Lotus is more reliable than a Range Rover. Cut your losses, enjoy life and buy something that works every day. If you want regular problems, I can recommend several very expensive cars that will fit the bill. '10 Range Rover Sport TDV8

Hi foxy

When it comes down to it despite their faults, whether it be a FF,RRS,LR4 Freelander, Defender and I dare say the Evoque in their respective classes, they are, you know just `right`

You come to the conclusion what do you replace one with?

Look on the bright side if we had service and reliability they would really be as common as s Censored e Smile

Chin up Thumbs Up Kiel

No, you are in denial. Keep the RRS for going shooting/hunting (after you get bored with talking about the quality of the birds, you can talk about Range Rover!) and buy something else for business. I had a Purdey which let me down so many times I ditched it and bought Boss & Co - superb! The B5 is my business tool, the sports car are for fun and the RRS I bought out of gulit because everyone else had one. But hey, 700 miles and not a problem! '10 Range Rover Sport TDV8

The RRS is the only member of the clan that looks wrong in this situation, even F2 would look better....or maybe it was because mine was an HST Whistle IN RED! Whistle L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

I've had 18 months trouble free motoring in mine, I'd go as far as saying it is the best car I've ever had, mine being an SE it has much less to go wrong with it ! The only thing I wish I'd got was the premium leather! I bought mine in that spec as I was woried I would be left at the roadside, but it has never happened! I have a friend who wishes he bought an RRS instead of a Q7 MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged Wink ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps!

Gone: a comprehensive list of imprezas and a Merc ML AMG

It's hard for others to say what would suit others especially when the RRS ticks so many boxes. It does sound like the dealer is the one letting you down, STOP been nice to them in the service department, make them know how they have made your experience of RRS ownership be the worst buying experience ever.

I've not looked at RRS Replacements as I haven't made it to my RRS yet, buy I heard the Q7 eats tyres, about 7000 miles a set iirc.

Also don't blame LandRover they Split the brands it Range Rover now that's Censored , stop tarring us LR driver Whistle Laughing

As for shooting at my club you'll need a clapped out Toyata to fit in Laughing

A red 'anything' on a shoot would be bad - it will scare the birds although give cause for endless amusement with the other Guns. I was out earlier this week and the RRS sitting amongst all the FFRR's made the latter look - portly shall we say. My experience is:

Big Daddy - Guns with big ego's; walnut drinks cabinet taking up all of the boot; no room for passengers so just owner and his loader Rolling Eyes
Defender - pulling the game cart
Disco 3 / 4 - pickers up and their dogs
Volvo VX90, Toureg, RRS, Explorer, Land Cruiser etc - good down to earth shots and fun to be with

Hi Foxy

Sorry to hear about your ongoing issues with LR. You seem to manage to get more than your fair share of issues with vehicles from LR.
As others have suggested it would be worth trying another dealer - if you can find one that's any good!

I don't think it matters what brand or item you buy, you only find out how good they are when you get any problems.

We previously had an X5 (I know you don't like them), but it was a great car - never any problems with the car, but the dealership wasn't great! However a friend had an x5 and had a few issues, a different dealer and they were worse than rubbish - after about 6 weeks he rejected the car and had his money back.
He has now bought a Q7 and has had more problems with that than the X5' however he is still with it as the dealership have been a lot more helpful.

We previously had an xc90, and although I understand your mum has one, I can't believe this is the car for you - Ours was terrible, I managed to meet up with the MD of Harratts & he agreed to buy it back because of the service & issues we'd had.

I know I've not really been much help, I guess what I'm really saying is that whatever car you buy there is a chance there will be issues. It's how the dealership deal with it that counts, by the sounds of Leeds have been a total disaster. What does the DP have to say about it all, he or she should be bending over backwards to help and managing the situation themselves - NOT FOBBING YOU OFF WITH LESS THAN COMPETENT PEOPLE THAT HE HAS EMPLOYED & IS SUPPOSED TO BE MANAGING!

On a positive note, our RRS has been fine!

Take care & go give the DP some grief - refuse to talk to anyone else but him or her. Get there divisional manager on the phone & get them to meet you there too.

BTW - Peter Marks is the Group Chief Exec. I'm sure if you fire a letter off to him explaining the shoddy service you've had with your last few LR vehicles he will have the clowns running around to get you sorted out.

Good Luck
Steve

Thanks Boys.

I spoke to land Rover Customer Services this morning and they were more than helpful. She informed me that you only have 3 months to reject the car. Which I said to her was utter rubbish and I wasnt happy at all with. She agreed. But what she did say is that she would take ownership of the issue and resolve everything for me. Including dealing with the service manager Paul. Who rang me this morning.
When I asked why hed not called me on Friday he said that he had got someone else to inform me so that was ok? Hmm not in my eyes but hey what do i know. Im just the customer.
So Sarah from LRUK is going to ring me back with a solution by the close of business today. I told her to pull the last 18 months history of me up and she said bloody hell, do you know the land rover assist guy personally? Yes I said, Hes going to be my sons god father. She laughed. I didnt.
So well see what happens today. ...... Another day in the foxy v lr saga ! Smile

Foxy, just lifted this from the honest John website - possibly may be useful to you??

Relates to returning a car;

You have to invoke the Sale of Goods Act 1979 Part II Section 14, as modified by the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, subsequently modified by the Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994, contending that the supplier is in breach of contract to you for supplying a car which was not "of satisfactory quality", or did not remain so for a reasonable period of time. Appeal Court Case law (Bernstein v Palmerston Motors 1987) has held that the supplier must be given three chances to rectify the fault for which the goods are rejected and must have failed to do so. The goods must be returned to the supplier together with all keys and paperwork. (Scott and Scott v Blade Motor Company 1997.) And the supplier (in the case of a car the dealer principal of the dealership) must be sent a letter by recorded delivery detailing why the car has been rejected as not "of satisfactory quality". Case law (Rogers v Parrish 1987) has put a limit of 6 months on the time you can successfully reject a car and obtain a full refund, though lesser refunds, taking account of mileage covered, may be obtained outside that period. The price you pay compared to market value will be taken into account.

One of my first company cars was successfully returned to Peugeot as for the 7 months I'd officially had the car it had been in the garage for 4 of those months. My fleet manager at the time said she (& Dial) had never known a car be bought back by the manufacturer after such a long period. They offered me another 406 with extra bits etc.....but I chose a Golf GTI instead - much better overall and could still tow the speedboat Thumbs Up
