Hi everyone i need some help ( owning a RRS i think i do) lol

Ok, i have a few dtc codes come up after fitting a replacement engine and gearbox (Ebay Specials)

I finally managed to get the air out of the fuel system and got the thing started and idling. Warmed it up a bit and thought i'd check codes as its running lumpy and although no mil lamp illuminated it wont rev past 2500 (maybe a limp mode) but no lamp on?

Ok codes are:

PO191 - 24 (fuel pressure sensor range)
PO191 - 65 (fuel pressure sensor range)
PO625 - 11 ( Generator field circuit low)
PO269 - 00 ( Cyl 3 Contribution/balance)
U2023 - 86 (Fault received ....) TCM

I can see cyl 5 & 6 injectors are wet indicating a leak (or seating issue)

There is also a HDC fault (no code)
Transmission stating 'F' on dash clock info display


Now do i set fire to it or can anyone save my sanity on this
I really love this truck and i'd love to keep it.

Try searching the codes on here or on www.Disco3.co.uk

Check fuel pressure sensor plugged in, or try sensor off old engine

Generator field circuit low - This means the alternator light is on basically. Check alternator plug and 5A ALT fuse in battery fusebox

( Cyl 3 Contribution/balance) - It's having problems doing the fuel trims. Maybe because of the pressure issue. or maybe a belt valve in heads

Sometimes the gearbox ecu (megatronics unit) is VIN coded. That maybe the cause of the last fault code. Read gearbox codes. You may need to swap the megatronics, (or reprogram with GAP IID) but sort the engine out first.

In regards to fuel pressure yes i'll investigate to see why the injectors are wet/leaking and see if that has an effect on codes.

As for the Alternator light goes off when engine running, any ideas? I'll check the multiplug for connections.

As for gearbox, i'm going to do a sump conversion to metal, whilst there i'm going to change the mechatronic electrical sleeve and of course new filter. Although i see so many variations on transmission oil, man i'm confused lol.

Is there anyone who can code it in once i have changed sump ? i dont have the Gap system, i only have a Launch code reader and Tech 2 for the GM.

gearbox oil. You want something ZF6HP26 compatible

I would sort out the electric issue first, else you will only end up draining the oil again.
Read gearbox codes if you can

If the alternator is working, try clearing the code or ignoring!

Injector 5 & 6 were leaking at unions, slight tweak and they are now ok.

Is there anyone nr or in Swindon that could do a gearbox reset for me? I bought something i was told would do it and na, junk. Mucar BT200. (going in bin).

The gearbox fault could be linked to the engine issue. I read somewhere on here (a while ago so it's hazy) that the gearbox goes in to a limp home mode if there's a serious engine issue in order to protect itself and the engine. Hopefully with the engine side sorted, a code clear will sort it.

I haven't used them, but there is Ridgeway 4x4 https://www.ridgeway4x4.co.uk/ who claim to be LR specialists. I'd have thought they could clear codes for you for a nominal fee. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

So the leaking injectors i sorted, the cylinder balance issue on number 3 pot i am estimating it could be a faulty injector. (P0269-00)

(P0191-24) Fuel rail pressure range/performance ( i'm hoping changing the cyl 3 injector may cure this (i hope).

(P01335-21) EGR position sensor min stop performance ( ive blanked the egr's just havent got software to delete)

(U2023 -86) Fault received from external node ( Transmission) ( its a gearbox from another doner car so i'm hoping resetting it will cure it (fingers crossed) when i can get someone to do it...lol

(U0100-87) Lost communication with ecm / pcm 'A' ( This is on the PBM system, not sure what the fault is directly.... however, the emergency brake release had been pulled to move vehicle onto trailer at some point. I dont know if its possible to electronically reset this or do i have to open up the module and reconnect manually? )

I did send Richard at Ridgeway 4 x 4 an email last week, no reply as yet.

Try a fuel filter to see if it fixes the pressure fault code.

Haven't located the fuel filter so far, Wondering if this model actually has one externally. (The mind boggles).

So i bought a more expensive JLR diagnostic tool as the other MUCAR one seemed to be a gimmick.

With so many codes and electrical issues i'm not really sure on the best place to start.... any ideas?

Fuel filter under the car.
Approx under drivers seat.
Remove plastic gearbox under tray.

2 types of filter depending on year

U codes are communication problems between modules. Most of the time you can ignore them unless you have serious issues.

The codes should have more digits. -55 as your first post


You had better find the pressure sensor on the fuel rail (top of engine). Inspect wiring and consider changing it once you have done filter

Hi Andy, This new diagnostic unit was only giving me said codes (unlike the earlier unit). The Mucar unit didnt have the ability to do any resets so was no good. This new unit has the ability to do all resets. I did manage to reset the EPB system and the transmission adaptation relearn.

After doing that as you could see i still have a vast amount of dtc's to work through. seems to change everytime i scan.

In the morning i'm going to get underneath and check for fuel filter, whilst i'm there i'm going to check multiplugs on transfer box and main gearbox.

I'm also going to order a new fuel rail pressure sensor ( the one on it is new but could be faulty)

Located the fuel filter hidden behind a panel by fuel tank. It looks to be a screw on canister type.

From my OLD scanner all i could get with complete codes were:

The rest dont seem to have any extra digits no matter what i try with the settings on this new diagnostic unit.
