Interesting that the tow hitch JLR supply in OZ is different again. It has the quick release section as a separate part, with a 50mm square section that a 50mm bar pins into -like a standard Haymen Reece set up. I haven't seen many comments on Aulro about these failing. Looks good on a Sport. There are aftermarket hitches also in use for really heavy duty use (mitch hitch etc) SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally |

I have read somewhere that Oz has to be different because you have heavier off-road caravans/trailers - i think it was on a caravan forum |

Hay - what do I know! I only have a 3.5 Ton Brian James Trailer that's used on & off road with the standard tow-bar.

When I am next back in Oz will send copy of JLR blurb/part numbers for this hitch. It is listed as D3/4 RRS part.

Aussie cars also have a 350kg tow ball weight where I think the UK cars are 150kg. 07MY RRS TDV6

The Auz and US towbars, with the square receivers are cool - but there are some reasons why we cant have them here.

There'll be a homologation issue for why we can't have the Oz hitch here. Probably some small corner of the EU that doesn't like it so no one in the EU can have it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I hook my brake cable on one of the loops to the receiver in chassis - it would not fit MY10 loop so fed it through recovery ring near electrics on that one |

What's wrong with using the recovery loop immediately above the tow ball housing? That's what I do with the cable for our horse trailer. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I was warned against this as it can foul when turning, etc - much safer below on proper loops - I always meant to change the clip but never got round to it |

Thanks Muddy, I wondered about the loops on the receiver and hope the cable will go on oner of those |

Never found the recovery loop to result in fouling whilst turning... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
