Simonsti - I can see in your case LR may advise you to use the fixed tow bar recommended "for commercial and constant use" with towing weekly. I am using a 3-4 year old tow bar from my previous sport and have always felt safe towing the caravan until now - I have used mine for around 5-6 trips per year towing the caravan and consider this to be "Leisure use"

Interesting that the tow hitch JLR supply in OZ is different again. It has the quick release section as a separate part, with a 50mm square section that a 50mm bar pins into -like a standard Haymen Reece set up. I haven't seen many comments on Aulro about these failing. Looks good on a Sport. There are aftermarket hitches also in use for really heavy duty use (mitch hitch etc) SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally

When I am next back in Oz will send copy of JLR blurb/part numbers for this hitch. It is listed as D3/4 RRS part.
Have never fully understood why different balls/hitches are required for different regions when all are in theory rated at 3500kgs.Seems that some are "light duty" 3500 kg - but the JLR documents/manuals make no such distinction. We use a 50mm ball in Oz same as UK. The cut out in boot of RRS is for the UK ball.  SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally

Aussie cars also have a 350kg tow ball weight where I think the UK cars are 150kg. 07MY RRS TDV6

The Auz and US towbars, with the square receivers are cool - but there are some reasons why we cant have them here.

I remember that from my old disco days, they also had the US square receiver hitch option. I have one on my current disco, off road it can take a square recover hitch, it has a drop plate for towing and is low profile so it doesnt get in the way off roading. Mike

There'll be a homologation issue for why we can't have the Oz hitch here. Probably some small corner of the EU that doesn't like it so no one in the EU can have it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I tow too, my caravan is about 1650Kg. Fortunately my RRS tow stuff is new and the detachable hitch seems to have a very positive click in the lock position, the key comes out easily too. I have put a film bit of grease where the detachable bit pushes into the chassis, keeping the ball cover in place when it is stowed.

Without teaching granny to suck eggs an all that - I am hoping to find a place on the chassis to fasten the breakaway cable now, not for me is it going around the 50mm Ball any longer  SDV6 HSE, Indus Silver/Ebony
