No probs VA. I haven't sussed out this Gallery lark yet so I'll take some digi-pix now and anybody can email me if they want a copy attached by return (brian.mason1@talk21.com). It really has made an amazing difference and it's a lot less like driving a Tranny Van now! Happy Dayz! Very Happy

Fellas, it's the side of the plastic moulding, around the lock, right at the base of the tailgate. Basically, the stick-on fluffy "brazillian" velcro pads form a buffer between the tailgate and the base where the lock drops into the clasp area. If you look, you'll see pathetic rubber pads either side of the clasp where the lock rests when closed. There's obviously movement, allowing plastic creaking and knocking. The velcro pads do work a treat, it's now very quiet! Thumbs Up

These fluffy strips really do stop the rubbing. Remember, there's nothing better than your lock rubbing up against a nice brazillian!!! Laughing

Great news but just slow down there buddy for a minute !

Has anyone else stopped to consider exactly what is going on here?

Yes, great, finally a fix has been found to our seemingly endless pursuit for a solution to our noisy tailgate rattles but, and this is a BIG BUT,

These are very expensive automobiles we are dealing with here and we are sticking 10p worth of velcro to them to cure our problems ourselves because we are "problem solvers" but what are the dealers and the manufacturers doing about it and why are we seemingly on our own in this?

Just a late night thought It's finally gone! Replaced with BMW 730SE in Sophisto grey Xirallic finish with Oyster (Ivory) and black interior. DAB, Climate glass, Ceramic iDrive and gear selector, power boot and iPhone Bluetooth pack - luvvin' it!

I miss my old RRS "bucket" rattling around but it just had to go!

10p i wish i had to spend £1.99 on the velcro strip.

If it were down to the dealers, they would possibly replace the tailgate or something similar, they just don't care. some of my Previous cars
