Brake pads worn warning

Hello everyone, I have a MY23 L461 with 26000 miles on the clock and I have just had a brake pads worn warning come up. It initially came on and then went away for a few days, but is now permanently on.

Is 26000 miles too soon for my pads to be worn or is this more likely a sensor failure? I have a normal driving style (I think!) and most of my miles are a weekly 200 round trip commute. I use adaptive cruise control a lot; is this more harsh on the brake pads? I previously had a 2020 Disco Sport with adaptive cruise control and I traded that in with 42000 miles with no pad issues.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Paddy

There have been reports of brake pads - particularly at the rear needing replacement at less than 10k with lots of use of Adaptive Cruise due to continual feathering of brakes. If you look on the US forum there are loads of threads about it.

Only way to tell is measure pads in the callipers to see if they are worn.

I've spoken to an indie who says it is possible, so I have asked for a quote to compare against the main dealership. I did read some posts on the US site, hence my query about ADC, but was wondering if anyone on this side of the pond had had the same.
