Transmission Fault

Can anyone suggest what this issue might be please? Every time I park up and turn off the ignition I get a 'Transmission Fault' message appear on the little screen on the dash. The car drives perfectly, no issues selecting gears, park or reverse and other than that message I wouldn't be aware of any issue.

I scanned for faults with my GAP tool and it came up with the code in the photo but the description just came up as 'unknown'. Thanks.

That's a bit of a bizarre thing to do but hey if it helps fix it I'll try turning on my lights when I'm next in the car and see what happens, thanks! Laughing

Well Censored me, when I put my headlights on the transmission fault doesn't appear! Never in a million years would I have thought would help but there you go!

Not sure where to go next but its a start...

Are the drive selector lights supposed to light up when the lights aren't on? Can't remember now. Thought that might have been the issue but if they aren't supposed to come on in daylight then that's nothing useful...

I have transmission fault on and was finding this thread today.
I was just in my RRS S/C 2005 and tried the lamp switch on trick defore starting the engine.
It works šŸ˜…. I could even select M/S mode and use the manual shifter.

I noticed one thing, when parking and switching lights off before turning ignition off I couldnā€™t
take out the key from ignition switch!?
Then I started the engine again with the light switch on and kept it on until I had shutdown the engine.
This time I could take out the key.
Could it be connected with this transmission snag?

Yeap.

If it thinks the gearbox isnā€™t in Park, it wonā€™t let you remove key.

You need to resolder a red wire splice in sill somewhere.

In the US-forum someone referred to green/pink wires and you say red wire?
Are there different on RRS than other models? Do you know?

Well if you can find splices for both colours, itā€™s probably worth doing both while you are at it !

If you switch the headlights on before starting the engine you will not have the
ā€œtransmission faultā€ warning when selecting D with the gear shifter. šŸ‘

If you read the links to other forums earlier in this thread you will be enlightened.
