MY13 RRS Rear brakes and EPB shoes | |
Hi all, in case it helps anyone else, just want to post some findings from having just replaced all the rear brakes.
Firstly, stick with OEM suppliers for the EPB shoes - i tried a brand APEC and they simply didn't fit - the lever arm was a few mill too long and got caught which made it a 'mare to get undone. They also didn't have the small holes which connected to the bias spring (if fitted, or so the manual says). In short, a complete waste of hours/days.
In the end, bought a good set of Mintex (for not much more) which also came with the fitting kit. Model was MFR712 but obv. check yours to see what you need. They looked pretty identical to the ATE that came off the car (with LR stamps on it so wondering if they are the original from 11yrs ago) but were as tight as a nun's nasties to get on. Interestingly, when i tried to look up the ATE models, on their website it says the correct ones are for 200mm drum diameters, but all the discs i found were 210mm, including the Brembos i put on so again, check what you need. Overall there has to be a better system than drum brakes.
Any suggestions for tools/techniques to get those **** clips on would be more than welcome.
