United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
Hello rrsport.co.uk!

Just bought my first Landy, a 2005 RRS 4.2SC. Not sure it was a good move, though! No doubt I'll be searching here for wisdom, so thanks in advance.

Anyone recognise it???

CO emissions
Most suspension bushes
wheel bearing
brake fluid leak
discs and pads all round gone
transmission goes into limp
rear wiper not working

Nice ornament for the drive though.

Ah thanks, the E21 BMW is my baby. The RRS is just a distraction!

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Stornoway Grey

Hi All,

Just in the middle of buying our first RRS (deposit left)

She's a 2010 3.0 TDV6 SE (I wish it was HSE or Autobiography but it is what it is!) - this is more of a testing the water to see how we get on / find it. If we really love it then we may upgrade in a few months / year etc to a HSE / AB.

I'm jumping right in at the deep end with it... in typical LR fashion, I'm going to pickup a car trailer tomorrow and bring her home - Yes, you guessed it... she's not drivable! Laughing Laughing Laughing

I'm not completely new to LRs, I did have a 1998 4.6 P38 about 7 years ago (had that for about a year). And I have helped keep a friends 2004(ish) 3.0 TD L322 going over the years!

Look forward to joining in / reading up on RRS's on here.

Cheers
Ian

Sorry I forgot to put the reason!... Coolant leak.

Its peeing out the front centre of the V. I'm 95% its the plastic coolant pipe bridge bit that goes from one head to the other - was a bit hard to see but its that area anyway and I know they are common failure point.

Took some bottles of water with me and topped her up with about 6-7litres or so, then starter her. She sounded ok from what I could tell (once the belt stopped making noises due to water all over it).

Due to the leak / no tax / ins etc I didn't want to test drive it OTR, I did have it in drive and reverse and it moved. Also tested Low Range, Suspension up/down, Elec Windows / Wipers / Mirrors etc. All seems ok.

The only bit that still slightly worries me is the owner filled it up and then drove it about 10 mins (from cold start) with the leak to where it is now. Good news is the leak is high up, not a bottom rad hose etc! He said it never over heated... but then I guess they would do wouldn't they? Wink

Fingers crossed I guess...

Hope it is an easy fix. Defo sounds like ya know ya stuff, so sure you’ll be fine. Probably was a bargain price giving the issues too, so happy days 😊

Cheers guys will give you an update tomorrow!

Price wise, i'm not sure really... Providing engine is ok, then i'm happy with what I paid. But it wasn't exactly a steal / trade price IMO especially considering the risks.

I know the seller had to turn down an offer of lust under 4k last week because of the leak - originally this was advertised as a good running car at almost 5k (which was overpriced at that considering its only an SE in average condition).

Bit of a late update!

Got car home on trailer all ok. (was only 9.9 miles!)

It was the coolant bridge pipe that had failed like I thought - Fixed that now, had it running for 20 mins on the drive and all seems fine. Took it for a quick test run up the lane and back half a dozen times Rolling Eyes and all seems fine Razz

Then had random issues with the boot not opening, which then became 'every time'... long story short, with the glass section open I had to pull back the lower plastic trim, cut the wires to the boot locking motor and manually apply power! Since then I removed the lock and cleaned everything up / oiled etc... its been fine since. Neutral

Yesterday I replaced the cambelt as there was no history of it ever been done. Bloody glad I did as although it looked in really good condition, the date stamp on it was 2 months before the car was registered (so its obviously the original belt at 126k / 13.5 years Shocked )

Now just got to do oil / filter change. And fix the passenger side front door motor.

Getting there bit by bit... Very Happy
