,

that can be fixed if you familiar with working epoxy and composites( aramid aka kevlar and carbon fiber fabric) small quantities can be had at beter hobby shops. clean the surface well with brake cleaner and roughen up the surface with 120 grit sand paper than use JB Weld or similar epoxy and rubit in the crack. prepare laminating epoxy, wet fabric and apply 2 layers of kevlar 120g and finis with carbon fiber 120. fabric needs to overlap crack by 3/4' to 1'. cover with food wrap and apply pressure till epoxy sets.

in the picture i mark places to grind down.

Problem is, the manifolds are a weak design

"Repair" it, and the crack only moves to a weaker part, until this happens...

Glue is fine as a temp repair, but sooner or later, you'll be replacing the manifold

Mine is only a small crack I think I'm going to try super glue and baking soda, I have 3 weeks to wait before the Dealer can look at it.

I presume I have nothing to lose.

Driving it under 2000 revs for 3 weeks is tricky as I live in a hilly area and if the restricted performance kicks in, it drives like I have a puncture and end up with a long line of traffic behind me when I go up hills.

Good job I can override the auto box's gear changes with the Command Shift paddles.

Thanks.

Both mine cracked, warranty specifically said inlet manifolds weren't covered, however, given that my engine had been refurbed by the same warranty firm they agreed to pay half the costs. Had a quote of £750 for genuine parts all fitted, clearly a cheap quote Whistle , got job done and went to collect the vehicle. "I've underquoted you by £800" said the mechanic Big Cry , "my fault though so I won't ask for any more" he said. Bow down Result was the warranty paid half of the £750 and I got a £1550 job done for £375. Result Thumbs Up

Hi i had a interesting call with LR Customer service or non service to be honest. So there is a LR bulletin LTB00768v2 an official document that states under cause:Material Thickness and fillet radius of the valve cover not to specification.I asked as they state it’s not to specification so by that statement not fit for purpose they would be replacing any defective units covered by the vin numbers they listed free of charge?Guess what they said NO! as there had not been a recall. So they can release cars with parts that fail their own specifications and put them on vehicles with no recourse.
The fact that there quality control failed and by that they supplied vehicles with a defective part they still expect the vehicle owner to pick up the bill for their quality control failure and management failure on this.
Surely their must be a legal firm who would take this on with the UK equivalent of a USA CLASS Action Law Suit.
Thought please as this can’t be correct . Thumbs Up

Drill a hole whose diameter is at least twice the width of the crack at both ends. Then use the superglue-baking soda method to seal up the crack.
