United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

No

I bought a new car once but saved 20% on list as dealer pre-reg'd it, so I was in effect the 2nd owner on a car with about 20 miles.

You can overthink these things.

Depends how long you're looking to keep it.

I tend to keep my cars 3-4 years, although my current one I've had for 5 years as I've not found anything to swap it for.

On that basis, I wouldn't worry about 4 previous keepers affecting resale value. If you keep it 4 years it'll be around 7-8 years old and resale value will be more down to miles and condition by that point.

As for knowing what they're like to drive, it's a great excuse to go for a few test drives. Thumbs Up

Comparing it to the Evoque isn't helpful. The Evoque is more car like and you could be forgiven for forgetting you're in a SUV. The RRS is bigger, higher up, heavier and just obviously a different beast. Way more capable too, of course, should you ever feel the need to get it dirty. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yeah pre-reg are great deals, I don't see so many these days though.

Always good to find an excuse for a test drive Wink Bit of a trek though that's the only issue, so would like to know as much about it as possible for making the journey.

England 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Firenze Red

This year I brought a 14 plate supercharged, it’s had 4 owners and a full service history, within the first month I had the gear selector switch break, very common I am told and it’s just come out the workshop with £750 bill front suspension which started knocking over bumps. My take on this is it’s a Range Rover, you should expect some bills with it or buy something completely different, I also run a modern classic 911 and Landrover Defender, I know I am a sucker for punishment, on the plus side I get invited to the Garages Christmas party. 😁

England 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

my 2006 sport has had 7 previous owners last owner spent lot of money on it having work done only reason she sold it is because she was tiered of spending money on it
like previous people have said they cost a bit to maintain if your handy with spanners and have a good diagnostic tool you can keep costs down your self
it just the time and parts that will set you back and you should save on labour fees thats where I see most prices rocket up when rrs are fixed

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

My 2007 TDV8 Sport has had 4 previous owners, I purchased it 3 years ago & it came with a massive service history which put my mind at rest. I've spent around £2000 on it with servicing & minor repairs at a brilliant independent, I've had around 40 vehicles in total since 1971 but the RRS is undoubtedly the best of the bunch.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

I bought a SAAB from their Business Demonstrator fleet, so was the second owner.

At one point, as my wife was the main driver, it was cheaper to insure it in her name, however she had to be the registered keeper.

When we divorced, I had to register it back in my name, therefore although having only two owners in reality, the V5 would show 4.

It's the car you are buying, not the paperwork, not every 'alarm bell' goes off.

Well I've told them I'm not interested in that particular RRS anymore as the PCP figures are just crazy, plus the offer for my car is poor, so I'll continue to look.

Thanks for all the help and advice though, some useful stuff to know moving forward.

I found it better to sell via "Motorway" to get the best price.

Put your reg in there and see what they come up with. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Yeah I always check these kinds of companies but always try and get dealerships to get close as it's less faff Wink

I think number of drivers is probably more important.
Wifes car is an ex hire car so probably a different driver every day in its first year. Zero problems so far (thats done it!).
Until the RRS two years ago, I was a high miler and always bought quality 4-5 year old ex company cars with 70-90k miles. Serviced by the book usually, and with that mileage, probably mostly motorway miles. I kept them for 4 years or 100k or thereabouts. The majority of faults I had with them were electrical rather than mechanical.
Cheaper to buy and similar depreciation to one with half the mileage. Worked for me (have never felt the need nor had the money for brand new). RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

The problem with that is that you're using LR dealership workshops to do the work - assuming you get through the "investigation" stage, of course. That's where they charge you to have a look at it before they even decide what's wrong and before they approach the warranty company. The warranty is a third party warranty, by the way, and so isn't "LR Warranty" at all.

There really are few, if any, positives to buying second hand from a LR dealer. May as well by from a decent specialist and get your own warranty. Probably work out cheaper and any work that is required will probably be done correctly first time - unlike LR dealerships. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
