Air suspension compressor required

I recently had my wheel bearings replaced and whilst I was in the garage, a suspension fault warning came up on the dashboard. The garage plugged their computer in and it came up with a low air fault ie the compressor had seen better days. It’s still the original one.

Do I replace it with Hitachi or go with a Genuine Land Rover one?

A bit of research shows that the new LR compressor is the one to go for.

The Hitachi is the genuine Land Rover item - is easy to rebuild rather than getting a new one.

Hang on - looked at your vehicle - a 2011 so it will have the AMK from new not a Hitachi - so see if yours can be rebuilt, if not buy a genuine AMK not a knock off. 07MY RRS TDV6

If the Vin No. is prior to BA708255 it could well be a Hitachi, as according to L/R they did not start fitting the AMK till after that vin. number. On some MY12/13 cars they reverted back to the Hitachi and then back to the AMK again, just to confuse things. Drop the plastic cover and have a look, easy enough to tell the difference.

Cheers

Sounds a bit like they just had a rummage in the parts bin at the factory to see what compressors they could find, Col! Laughing 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Update: I’ve had the new AMK compressor fitted (software update included) and also had the air tank replaced. The tank was particularly corroded by the pipe fittings.

Car feels exactly the same as it did prior to the work although going into “Off road” mode seems especially quick.
