Why do you have to loosen/push back the drive shaft

Because you have to move it out of the way so the bottom ball joint has enough room to come out when removing the lower arm, otherwise it hits the drive shaft.

As Flack said Thumbs Up

It is possible to get the ball joint out without removing the driveshaft but it's quite fiddly and is more grief than just pulling the shaft out.

I've got a press and still chose to change the whole thing. Depends on how much youre willing to spend on it really.
Remember the ball joints aee also a common issue so it wouldn't be a bad idea to swap them too. Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up

That's what I was thinking but cheaper is not always better so the new full arms will be going on
I can get the lower arms for £125 each LR want £190 each and from what they told me there the same but in a different box

Rear bolt is stuck fast what's the best way to cut it off as after an hour of wd40 a hammer and lots of wiggling it just won't move Big Cry
