Does anyone know if there is a setting so that the suspension automatically drops to the low setting on turning off the ignition?

Why would it though ? The car is specifically designed to allow drivers to lower it with the ignition off ?

I've not done that more than a couple of times but do use access each time I park up (engine on) and switch on then raise. Daily driver, sime days half a dozen return journeys. Near 100k miles, same original compressors, no damage anywhere.

Try it and see Arrow every single time you switch off.

its all mechanical sympathy Thumbs Up

like braking gently and cornering smoothly

Also JLR are only bothered about the first 3 years anyway, after that its just "fair wear and tear sir"

we also lower or raise while moving and I may never see the benefit, although we did keep a D2 TD5 for 9 years so you never know

I do. On 98k miles and never an issue. As I say, I get the mechanical sympathy line but the handbook contradicts the argument. In fact the whole point of it having emergency ride height adjustment is to sort you out when you are grounded and stopped and the system is explicitly programmed to allow adjustment as stopped, as the handbook says, it goes out of its way to explicitly say you have 40 seconds to put it in access stopped with ignition off as long as you do not open driver door.

If the car is designed to cope off road its hard to see how adjusting when stopped causes a problem and my own experience says not.

I don't need to. The rrs is essentially a discovery in a posh frock, designed to manage off road and fairly extreme terrains. The idea it would break through raising or lowering when stopped is infinitessimally small.

You have read the manual ? Where it confirms what I said about emergency extended height mode, and about being able to put it in access mode actually with the ignition off ?

You can wrap a car in too much cotton wool or take the concept of mechanical sympathy (which I recognise) just a wee bit too far.

Perhaps you should consider another car if an rrs is in your view so delicate. ?

I use the lower option while on the move before parking up. It just becomes second nature. 2010 3.0 TDV6 RRS Overfinch GTS
