I found a recon engine and with part ex it costs me around £5000 but I have no idea on the mileage or any of the service history on the engine so I am unsure if I should go for it because it might make the car more un reliable |

It can hardly be any more unreliable. I'd consider fixing it and then selling it if you've lost confidence.

If the contract really states "all claims must be made in the united kingdom " then tell them, you ARE in the United Kingdom and are making the claim from there.

If the warranty company are refusing to pay up then claim from the garage you bought the car from,,when I sold my14 sdv6 & the crank failed with 2 weeks of the new owner getting it,,i contacted LRCS who said is is nothing to do with them as a indie dealer was involved & the new owner should chase them for the repairs.

Do you have to mention it failed in Germany?. Aren't they just interested on the fault found. Sorry just thinking aloud and I've got no experience of the process.

Going off on a tangent. If you are thinking about a used engine, then I would definitely have a word with Disco Mikey (MMP Land Rover). Lots of good feedback on this guy..

I’d ring the warranty company as a ‘new customer’ and state you use the car on European holidays and would be interested to know if the cover (the same as you have) would cover you for a breakdown overseas. Just to see how it’s being sold! They will do anything for a sale so record everything.

Who provides the warranty and does it have a product name? I'm interested in reading the full terms & conditions.

The Financial Ombudsman Service should also be able to help you regarding the warranty company. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG
