Hi,
I was wondering about over sizing the tyres;-

1. To make a slight improvement on ride quality
2. bigger tyre in wheel arch looks better.

So does running the oversized tyre cause any problems with any electronic systems like the stability control programme (because of the change in wheel speed) ?

is a 275/50 R20 out of the question ? (I think it would look ridiculous anyway)

So long as all tyres are the same, DSC etc won't care. A change in sidewall height will alter the speedo but not by enough to worry about. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

275 45 much better ride

So I could go to 275/50R20 and there would be no problems other than a speedo error.
that is a tyre diameter of 30.8 inches,

Im fairly sure people run with 32 inch off road tyres don't they ?

Ok, so I run 275/55R20s but have raised the suspension by 10 or 15mm to compensate.

However, in the past I have had 285/50R20s and these ran no problem except for a slight rub on full lock, but I suspect this is due to the bumper not being straight rather than anything else...

Oh and I ran 275/40R22s...

That equates to the following diameters (approximately):

275/55R20 = 31.9" diameter

Basically, the 22"s were the most sporty with great grip and handling - what you'd expect with road tyres. But the ride was too harsh.

Both the 285/50s and 275/55s provide a very plush ride quality but obviously lack in the handling department due to the taller sidewalls. But then again the Sport isn't meant to be a Jaguar XKR, even if the shared the same engine...

The 275/45s that many go for is probably the best compromise with regards handling and ride quality. Pus you may even find some semi off road AT tyres in the size. I can't comment on this first hand though as I have never installed tyres of this dimension.

Thanks Guy good to know, I have 20" Wheels with the 40 profile in Nairobi, there is too many potholes here and the ride is not great so will look to go up to a 45 and maybe an AT tyre depending on whats available locally
