1. Yes they're "fake" exhaust tips. Seems to be the new trend. Many brands are doing this now. It just means design wise they can use whatever shape they want instead of the actual round pipes. I thought it was lame at first but they're actually easier to keep clean than polished tips.

2. The 18 SVR doesn't have a quieter exhaust. On the build sheet it lists features that are deleted from the build, but calling them "LESS". So that item "Less external exhaust sound" is probably for the model under it, supercharged dynamic or something that uses a module for the exhaust sound. It doesn't mean that there is literally less exhaust sound.

3. Matter of opinion of they're sh!t or not. I think they're a nice change.

Please, please, please let her sound just like the previous version! If she is muted in comparison I am going to reject mine!! Whistle

Is it possible to reject a car based on it's sound, maybe a stupid question but genuinely interested?

That's a good point. Even putting the SVR aside, I haven't come across a single journalist's review of the MY18.

Jas

With all the glitches and faults on the MY18 I would think JLR Media department are doing everything they can do to keep journalist out of the cars until they are on top of the problems. Not all potential customers go on sites like this to research problems, but most people read a news paper

I have asked my dealer about what the MY18 sounds like and he was unable to tell me. I think others here have also enquired but I have not read anybody state that LR or a dealer has confirmed that the sound is the same as the previous SVR. However, JPR has said that he has heard one and it sounds exactly the same as the previous one - see "2018 SVR Sound" post.

I have told my dealer already that if the MY18 does not sound exactly the same as the previous SVR or if it is muted, I will consider not accepting the car as I am purchasing it under the assumption that the sound is the same.

I’ve bailed
Partly due to dealer being so poor not replying to e mails, confirming terms and spec, and then on seeing the MY 18 SVR I wasn’t taken with the β€œimprovements”, also JLR seem to have dropped the ball with their electronics and development. I do regret returning the original car despite the wrong spec as much prefer the interior ( not a touch screen fan too many finger prints ) and the old seats where much more my thing. Picking up a Porsche Macan GTS in a few weeks then I will watch the second hand market to see how SVRs fair with a mind to pick one up later in the year
Must say Porsche dealers much more on the ball,

Agree re Porsche dealerships, when had my 911 Turbo S, out of all the marques I've been with, Porsche were the best, East London dealership were just amazing with me. Got free driving days at Silverstone, was even invited to join a Porsche Rally of 100 cars from London to Paris to the Mandarin Oriental Paris for a meal and champagne reception etc....cant speak highly enough of them!

Anyway, i like changing my cars and with the SVR will stay with Land Rover for a few more years yet....i suspect, this will be last marque I buy from.

Good luck with Porsche fella Smile MY18 Range Rover Sport SVR (18' - current)

I guess its because the car is just the same albeit with cosmetic changes! New lights, bumpers, trims and leather so not much to really write home about? Guess the extra BHP on the SVR may be worth a side column in a future auto express but I don’t see them doing a full out review for a facelift.

I'll second that regarding Porsche dealers dealt with the West London OPC and they were amazing especially compared to the LR.

Was invited to the golf competition at the Buckinghamshire, invited to Silverstone and since then despite not currently owning a Porsche still get invited to very expensive golf days, shame they don't make RR Sports! Rolling with laughter MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver
