I found the opposite. A firm pressure, just causes it to slip on the belt, or tools to bend.

Lol, I tried being nice and applying pressure but didn't have any joy, I was reading on disco3 that a few people had fan nut trouble and give it 1 good hit to try and shock the nut, it worked for some and not for others, so I went out to car and said to it loosen or I'll trade you in for a disco but that didn't shock it, that was when I give it a love tap with mallet but still no joy. Will give it another bash over weekend (not litrely) |

They are huge.lol i was surprised how heavy and long they were when they arrived, as long as my forearm. I'm guessing one with the funny end goes over the bolt heads on one of the pulleys and the other is for the fan itself. |

Using something solid steel like a blunt chisel , try hitting the flats on the fan. This will make it less comfy ..

Lol, please don't, there's nothing more valuable than first hand experiences, good or bad. That's how we learn |

That's alternator sorted. 👌 But yes I must confess I chickened out and called a mobile mechanic they went to my home wile I was at work and completed the job, don't like admitting defeat tho. 😡 But on the plus side got the car for the weekend. Happy days. 😋 |

It started with battery light randomly coming on and going out, then finally car cut out wile driving, called aa and they put a battery on car for me to get home approx 10 miles and by time I got home the special program was inactive, parking sensors were all out of whack and my airbag light was on, all seems back to normal now (airbag light had to be reset as didn't just go out once repaired) |
