Someone said on one of my posts - that the switch can get water in it.

I think water in the pull mechanism is a common problem. Went investigating when mine didn't work and found someone had already been in there and disconnected it! |

Would that mean a new lock mechanism the top one? Or a new switch the button under the top tailgate would you say? |

I think I would start with a new switch ( upper glass tailgate section) as this always appears to be the weakest link. Do make sure the lower tailgate is fully closed and latched otherwise the top section will not open. I've had an instance when the main tailgate wouldn't completely latch,,, cleaning and adjusting the striker plate mechanism cured it 2010 RRS, TDV8
