I have just ordered a foam seat base for my drivers seat, it was starting to sag on the right bolster. This excellent write up makes it look a fairly straightforward job.

Many thanks Thumbs Up

Is it just the foam base you can buy or can you get the leather from the dealer also ?

I just bought the foam, I will reuse the leather. There are a couple of LR leathers on ebay atm.

You can buy the parts for any year from a Land Rover dealer, mine dealer is quite close, only 20 mins or so by car.
I did have a look online, but there was nothing there, so a dealer is probably easiest. If your nearest dealer is too far to travel to, then they'll usually post the parts out to you...

What was the price for the heater pad?

The seat foam and heater pad are about the same price, so around 50 or 60 Euro each. You can't see the eyes of the demon until him come callin'

Great write up and "did" mine today, until I discovered I was shipped the wrong foam! Put the butchered seat back in until I get the right cushion this week...... 2018 Telsa MS

Cool, at least you know what you're doing now so should be a quick job Wink You can't see the eyes of the demon until him come callin'

Much better only 49k on the car yet this mod makes a nice difference to the bottom end.....I ended up using hog rings to attach the cover to the foam, nice and tidy. 2018 Telsa MS

Replaced my drivers seat foam today, I used cable ties to hold it all together. Took 2.5 hours, very pleased with the result

It was much easier thanks to this great write up. The only things I would add if I had to do it again:-

1/Use black cable ties, they are easier to see against the white foam when trying to pull them through the loops with long nose pliers

2/Think which way you want the cable ties to pull when looping them through, I ended up turning 13 of mine the other way around. Bit of a faff

3/I used talcum powder on the inside of the seat cover to help it slip over the foam, made it easier to refit.

4/Have some plasters handy, I cut my fingers several times trying to unbolt and refit the seat base to the frame.

New drivers seat base foam installed and refitted to car. The creases in the leather are beginning to come out since I have thoroughly nourished it.

I have the same, crumpled drivers seat bolster, issue.

Not sure I have the competence to successfully complete the process. Getting it all dis-assembled wouldn't be an issue. Getting it all back together might be! Rolling with laughter

What would you expect the cost to be at a dealership?

This was very easy and have the hog ring tool if you need it. Putting the 4 bolts back in to hold the seat base in was frustrating, yet easily done. All told it will take an hour or so.

Summary:
remove 4 holds
disconnect seat heater plug
cut all the hog rings
remove the seat cover
peel off the seat heater if you are replacing
drop in new seat base
put the cover back on
use the holes in the seat cover as the guide for the new hog rings or zip ties
drop in and replace the 4 bolts and seat heater connector 2018 Telsa MS
