Going back 3-4 posts to FKarim's one about now liking Stop/Start - if you regualarly drive the same route and get to know the traffic light phasing then once stopped keep your foot on the brake to stop the engine, engage the park brake, put the gear selector to N then lift your foot off the foot brake and the car will stayed stopped until you engage Drive again when you can hold it on the parking brake ready for get away. Saves you burning the eyes out of the head of the poor guy stopped behind you on a dark night or rainy day.................. Only problem can be when driving off that I try to put the car into drive without my foot on the foot brake and that annoys people behind and makes you rev the engine hard and go no where 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Edit - here's me not realising there's a whole other page with the answer, before replying...sorry You can use the charger to supply 12v accessories like a power supply. You get a CTek cigarette outlet socket to plug onto the charger for this if required. Remember if using a 5A charger that if your RRS batteries have a low charge, and possibly has been for a few days/weeks before you notice then charging below 10% of the battery Ah rating risks the possibility of permanently shortening its life, regardless to what the charger paperwork says. It's all to do with baking on the plate sulphation. Of course those low amp rating chargers are ideal for keeping a full battery full during holidays etc. Dennis 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine 14MY Range Rover Evoque Dynamic SD4 Black Pack - wife's 99MY Defender 90 TD5, Soft Top Conversion - my toy, and bairns favourite |

Up to my first Evoque I had always used a Maplin Solar Panel trickle charger to keep my car's batteries conditioned but with the advent of smart alternators and Battery Management systems I cannot now plug into the cigarette lighter to charge up. I have now been considering an LR Battery conditioner for my RRS - I had one on my last Evoque and it was very handy until my brother damaged it starting the car when he forgot that it was still plugged in............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Don't get the LR one, though. Buy the Ctek version same thing (or better) at a fraction of the price. |

I can't open the Topix link, but for £61.99 I bought a more recent, better specification, higher ampere charger than the LR one, complete with every connector imaginable including a panel for inside the car which gives you a battery condition indicator and allows for the charger to be connected. I'm not sure what the extra £116 for the LR charger gets you. |

I use a Ctek 7amp through the towbar electrics which works well even with the car locked in the garage. You can even modify the connector just in case you drive off with it on!!! MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys. |

LOL, if you stop to think about it, you will rarely come across someone who has shelled out the significant extra for the V8 saying "nah, makes little difference, and the front end is less pointy in the corners". I spent a long time determining which engine I wanted and decided that the V8 was for me. I like the idea of a lower stressed engine and the extra performance was noticeable . Fuel economy is not much of an issue , I am getting a real 9 ltres/ 100 at good cruising speeds. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW. |
