Hiya,

A gearbox reset may help for a short time, but I'd be inclined to change the gearbox oil first of it's never been changed before.

Easy to do. Either a megaflush, or drop the oil, refill (about 6/7 litres),MTL through the gears and then drop the oil again and refil again. Engine running, oil about 30-50 degrees when you out the last litre in. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi Bodsy and thanks for the reply. i did think the gearbox oil was coming to the end of its life and i did wonder if it needed changing. I will be in touch soon to sort out my EGR's and also a gearbox reset, got it back now after having someone chop the bumper off and it looks good, thanks again. 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

Also check the rear prop mounting, very guilty for collapsing

That said, mine had a thump, and it was a worn front prop Confused

Ok folks, done it again today. Pulled away and thought the prop shaft was loose, no oil in the rear diff, clunking symptom up to 15 MPH. I stopped, turned off for 10 seconds and restarted, smooth as silk thereafter. No sticking EPB or rear pads and its not a misfire, Do i need a gearbox reset ??? Every time i restart it has gone altogether Confused 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

Hi LFW, and thanks for the reply, in simple terms to a Locksmith is this easy to do...and how Thumbs Up I did think it was mechanical at first but turning on and off never repaired prop shafts, bearings or the diff in my book, that's why i was wondering about a gearbox reset or hard reset ... You can try this...

Quote:
. Switch ignition to position II without the engine running
. Select automatic or manual transmission neutral
. Depress the throttle pedal fully
. Press and hold the range change switch for 5 or more seconds to allow calibration to start
. When the calibration is heard to start, the switch and throttle pedal can be released
. Upon adopting high range, start the engine and wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in high
range is done. While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Start engine
. Perform a range change to low range. Wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in low range is done.
While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
. Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
. Range and clutch calibration is now complete.

...but it seems it doesn't work on all vehicles, in which case you need a diagnostic tool - just a 5 minute routine. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
