Have they taken the correct edge off???? It maybe a question that should be asked??? As I stated, it's now a LR technical advisory fix.

When done properly, it works.

My dealer said different brakes are fitted to HSE and HSE Dynamic vs Autobiography though. Not sure if mod is the same?

I have a HSE Dynamic (but it is the 2012 L320 model) and I'm pretty sure the brakes are normal ones as in HSE, they definitely aren't Brembo Brakes. John

The bulletin says it applies to high performance brakes only which I think would mean Brembo.

Scrap that. After a few hundred miles it's squealing again. FFS.

I'm happy to say that at the moment my brakes are squeal free. Very Happy

But, if it does return Embarassed I will just pass the car back to the Dealership. LR are aware of the fault hence the technical department giving advice for a fix. We have all paid a lot of money for our vehicles and if there's a fault it just needs correcting. My SVR does have the Brembo brakes but I don't know if the squeal problem is isolated to these only.
My Dealership, on my request, even sent me a picture of the brake pad mod they have done. I'll attach a photo. I hope this helps.

When did you have the mod? Mine has been a few weeks squeal free before it has started again.

Had the car back August 3rd, done about 100 miles since. I'm really gutted for you as it is sooooo annoying Evil or Very Mad

I think I have a bit of o.c.d. because any rattle, squeak or noise of any sort that shouldn't be there I have to get rid of.

But as I stated before, LR know of this and just have to sort it. It's clearly a fault on their part as they are providing a fix. At least their not coming back saying "it's a characteristic of the car " Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I did end up having a meeting with The Dealer Principal with various things that needed to be done and he agreed that they would be sorted. He assured me whatever it took the car would come back fixed. In fairness they have met this and in my opinion, at the moment Shocked , all is great with the car.

Just to note my car is currently on 1600 miles, I purchased new April 30th this year, so I know I probably don't cover as much miles as others but whatever the squealing should NOT be there.

It's getting embarrassing now. I went into the dealers, who basically said they have changed pads and disc on other customer's car and the squeak is there and that JLR don't know what the fix it so will have to wait. Also advised me that they don't have a like for like replacement for me to book the car in to do the other warranty bits like poor DAB reception, sagging seat, rear brake caliper paint fade and distorted front speakers.

Anyone getting any better service from their dealers? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

LR fitted new brake pads and discs to cure squeaking brakes ,40 miles so far so good Whistle
LR would only pay for pads ,but I had to pay for discs and no labour charge

Brake Pad Squeek

Brake pads should not squeek or make noise when they are not applied as there should be no contact between the pads and the disc with any force. If they are making a noise with no brake pedal application that tells me there is some binding force preventing the brake pad from being pressed against the disc. This would be either the spring clip holdng the pads in place, the caliper pins seizing or a problem with the piston o'rings not deforming properly under pressure.

Sounds like a brake caliper/caliper component problem not a brake pad problem. That could be a lot more expensive for LR to fix than just brake pads on lots of vehicles.

Putting a shamfer (taking the edge off the pads) if it is the problem might work but what happens down the track when the pad wears and there is no shamfer left - sound like a dodgy fix to me.

Brake Pad Squeal

Further to my last post. I have had a bad squeel from my 2010 RRS TDV8 brakes since new when coming to a stop or low speed manouvering and using the brakes. The problem went away when I stopped washing the car (about 2 years ago) regularly (washing included the wheels). I now wash it every 3-6 months and the problem has gone away.

Another problem was binding of the rear park brake. If I washed the rear wheels and left them over night without driving the car, they would not release and made a big bang noise when trying to drive off.
