My old car had its brake fluid done at three years, it's hydroscopic so can deteriorate |

I had mine done in January of this year around the same sort of mileage and brake fluid should be changed every 3 years for various people that I spoke too. Got my 1st MOT done elsewhere for 35. 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

When my RRS was 3 years old, it had its service but not the brake fluid change. I asked if it had been changed, and they said no, i asked why not, my dealer said, it is only a recommendation to change it dependent on miles and strenth. Mine had covered 24000 miles. My dealer said that they had tested the brake fluid and it was still good. They said if i wanted it changing, then i could call in any time and they would change it for free. So i took them up on their offer. It would have cost 35.00 if i had to pay for it. One of the very few dealers that say they don't change something if it isn't required. Now that is a refreshing change. |

It's in the LR service programme so wise to stick with it especially if any warranty work with brakes comes up in the future.

It's not the mileage that detoriates the brake fluid, it's the time. 3 years is way beyond my 1-year standard. Regards etc., Wojtek --- WAS: 2006 RRS Supercharged IS: 2010 RRS TDV8 HSE |
