United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Am I being taken for a ride ??

My car is due for its 3rd service and 1st MOT 21.000 miles
Booked in today at Main Dealer
Cost for service 381.60 but they will drop off and pick up wash & vac it as well
MOT 54.85
But they said, for an extra 70.00 that it is wise to flush out the Brake Fluid and replace with fresh, as it does deteriate over time and could cause issues if not done, is this correct ???

I am useless with cars and engines, give me a garage door and I can do magic
Are they just selling up on the service or are they correct. I don't want any issues down the line and don't want to cut corners with the upkeep of the car as it cost me a lot of money and I look after it.
Thanks MY 13 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition

My old car had its brake fluid done at three years, it's hydroscopic so can deteriorate

I had mine done in January of this year around the same sort of mileage and brake fluid should be changed every 3 years for various people that I spoke too. Got my 1st MOT done elsewhere for 35. Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

They aren't taking you for a ride.

But with only 21K 3 years, if it were me I would be waiting a while longer.

When my RRS was 3 years old, it had its service but not the brake fluid change. I asked if it had been changed, and they said no, i asked why not, my dealer said, it is only a recommendation to change it dependent on miles and strenth. Mine had covered 24000 miles. My dealer said that they had tested the brake fluid and it was still good. They said if i wanted it changing, then i could call in any time and they would change it for free. Very Happy So i took them up on their offer. Thumbs Up It would have cost 35.00 if i had to pay for it. One of the very few dealers that say they don't change something if it isn't required. Now that is a refreshing change. Very Happy

It's in the LR service programme so wise to stick with it especially if any warranty work with brakes comes up in the future.

It's not the mileage that detoriates the brake fluid, it's the time. 3 years is way beyond my 1-year standard. Regards etc.,
