New Zealand 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

Had my Brake Fluid changed at 3 year service by Crapstones, charged me £125.00. Cleanest Brake Fluid change I've ever seen, not the minutest trace of fluid around any bleed screws, only took 1 Litre of fluid for whole system. Confused

Told them what I thought and never wanted them anywhere near my car again. I bet they wished they never sent me a Customer Service Satisfaction Survey e-mail either.

Cheers
Col

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Recently had my car's 3 Year Service. The work schedule I received after the service mentioned brake fluid change at 3 Years but this item was not ticked as having been done. I queried it with the dealer (Copley Land Rover Halifax) who advised that they had checked the fluid (hydroscopy ??) and that it was fine and did not need changing. Obviously to do with the water content in the fluid.

I bought mine with its 3 year service just done by the stealer. I asked "Has the brake fluid been changed?" Service Manager couldn't say 100% hand on heart that it had been done. So, had it done as part of the deal.
As said before, time deterioates brake fluid (it absorbs water) and not mileage..... Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com

They aren't taking you for a ride. But with only 21K 3 years, if it were me I would be waiting a while longer.

It's not the mileage that detoriates the brake fluid, it's the time. 3 years is way beyond my 1-year standard.

I know it absorbs water over time but I think heat and usage are also an important factors. I use the colour of the fluid as a good indicator.

For example my 15 year old XJR with 20K miles has lovely pale yellow fluid in the tank. (never been changed)

Where as the 10 year old RRS with 110K miles had orangy/brown fluid which looked well overdue.
I changed the fluid. No improvement in braking noticed. But it should help prevent the internal braking system rusting up.
