Yes, you need to use resistors. They just need to be wired in parallel with the LEDs (i.e. from the indicator wire to ground). Bear in mind the heat generated by the resistors when you're positioning them (and water ingress on the wirning front also). 50 Ohm resistors are suggested to reduce the heat output. Allegedly yes, also to note is that when I put the hazard warning on then everything reverts to normal...
