Nice - what genius decided that they would be a good idea ? I wonder how much they weigh ? Clearly got to have some effect on economy.

Nah - not worrying about economy at all. It's better than the RS6 for sure. Just wondered what the heck they're for - now I know - but certainly they will effect economy, just like driving an aerodynamic brick also does.

Any weight will affect economy, but when you consider the weight of the chassis and the rest of the vehicle, it pales into insignificance! Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I used to be a helicopter technician and we used something similar in the nose to reduce harmonics, pimimtive but effective.

I worked on Westland Lynx for 15 years and the vibration absorber on top of the Main Rotor Head had to be tuned using a series of extra circular rings you bolted under the top cover. Used to love doing that job, we called it 'Bonk Testing' as you attached a piece of electrical kit to the vibration absorber to take the measurements and then 'bonked' it on the side with your hand. |
