Have had the Engine System Fault message flash up a few times now over the past week, switching the car off/on again seemed to sort it out for a few days / trips.

However today it happened again and i seemed to have had less power than usual, i was 100 yards from my house so drove slowly and parked up.

I've been reading through the forums and it seems it could be anything from egr valves, a stuck turbo actuator, or even a stuffed turbo which i'm hoping not.

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the west midlands to read any fault codes stored? First time I have had to do this so what sort of price should I expect to pay for this too?

Can't get a diagnostics done until next Wednesday...so in the meantime I had a mechanic friend take a quick look to see if anything was obvious.

He noticed something straight away, a failed O ring on the pipe from the EGR valve to the intake manifold has failed. You could feel the air coming out of it and it was making a hissing sound.

He's pretty certain this is the culprit, said it would explain my low mpg too (currently around 18mpg on the screen).

Next question is where would i get this part from? Would land rover supply it or is there another source? Any idea of a part number or what to search for?

From the sound of it you have had the egr's blanked and they have removed the pipes and put the aluminum blanks in the throttle housing, if so just remove the blank and get a new o'ring for it and make sure you tighten the bolts up equally, as these are known to leak if not fitted correctly.

I'm not aware if it has already been blanked, possibly by a previous owner but it wasn't mentioned on sale.

I have taken a couple of photos of the area to see if anybody can make more sense of it.

I have ordered the O ring from land rover anyway, pick it up tomorrow. £1.25, was expecting £20 or so knowing land rover.
