Electrically heated windscreen

Im not 100% sure our electrically heated windscreen is working. I plan to wait for it to be frozen over one morning and start the engine, turn off the blowers and turn on the electric front screen and leave it to see if it thaws out.

In the past it has taken a while to deice, with blowers and heated front screen on.

Is the heated front screen quite powerful, i.e. will it quickly get rid of ice or is it more to help with the front screen not misting up whilst driving?

Normally de ices a heavily frozen windscreen in about 2-3 minutes.
Just steam up the inside of windscreen, switch on windscreen heater and see if it clears

Hmmm, ours is possibly broken, fingers crossed a blown fuse Smile

Check the connectors too, one either side of windscreen (behind A pillar trims I think) and might be a fuse for each side of heated screen.

Thanks. I have just checked fuses as they are fine but they were both 15 amp not 30 amp as manual suggests.

I have just started the engine and turned all electrics off after 30 seconds I turned the electric heated front screen on and I heard the engine note change slightly and the rev counter lowered by a mm or so. Then, when I turn the heated front screen off, the engine note changed again and the rev counter needle went up by a mm or so.

So it looks like it is working.

I could just replace them both myself with 2 x 30 amp ones if thats whats needed.

Hmm, thats for MY2012, ours is a 2009, no idea why it has 15 amp fuses in it. They haven't blown on us despite being 1/2 what the manual says they should be.
