W all quite happily use passwords to access our laptops, we can add security codes to our Iphones and we have PIN numbers for Banking/card purchases etc.

If the tracker is meant to be in a concealed space to prevent tampering, was there more than one area of damage where they were looking for it? Who fitted the tracker? if the only damage was where it actually was, they had a pretty sure idea of where to look for it, and this brings us to the point of.. if they fitted it, they knew where to look for it.. 5.0 Ltr Superchrged RRS2, Chile Red, Sideways out of junctions!

They knew where to look for the tracker, see attached damage.....interesting suggestion! Another question for our dealer who used a specialist fitter(they took the car somewhere else in sw London to have it fitted!) |

Yup, inside job. Why are they outsourcing tracker fitting to third parties? |

You will be surprised how much information is leaked out by these tracker companies to 3rd party criminals Hope you get it sorted asap, but i would not sleep at night knowing how easy it can be stolen again. It spoils the enjoyment of owning one.

I was being facetious when I suggested a yellow Halfords steering wheel lock....I mean this car has more sophisticated features than you can poke a stick at, and we are suggesting security measures that I'd use on my bicycle!

Very sorry to hear of this. Tracker outsources fitting to several companies, but in my case the company came to fit this at home. However, by your photo it is quite clear that the thieves knew exactly where this would be located, and this is presumably now common knowledge. With the ease in which the new RRS can now be stolen, it does beg the question as whether it is safe to leave the vehicle unattended with or without a Tracker fitted. Not withstanding the fact that one might also have pets inside....

There is a statement right from Mumsnet. If he was called "DH" I'd know it to be true. Not really, Jane. A Rangey [of any type] isn't a mid life crisis purchase. It is a purchase by a chap who has done OK in life, perhaps has a foxy-looking wife, who has perhaps made a few quid, who wants a little of something people aspire to. He wants to enjoy something considered a status symbol, that other chaps who work hard seem to have. Nothing wrong with that, it is a result of hard work. A small reward. That the car was stolen isnt a reflection on his choices, or a mid-life crisis. It is a reflection of crime rates where you live. Or dishonest service providers. Were he in the midst of a mid life crisis, he would be on this site debating the pros and cons of marrying a woman who didn't denigrate his life choices openly on the internet because a car got stolen. Food for thought, no? |

There aren't many places to fit the tracker on the RRS so I suspect most are fitted in the same place !!!! |

Wasn't there a story awhile back about an insurer refusing to payout because there was no evidence the car was 'Broken' into as the thieves used a key or cloned key ? |

It is of course typical that LR's knee-jerk reaction is to deny there's a problem - other manufacturers would do the same - but you have to hope they are willing to work to understand where the gaping chasm in their security is.
