When BMW started using the Push button start...loads where stolen as a result of security flaws in that system...i think they addressed it though after months of denying an inherant problem existed. Gone but not forgotten, 2005 RRS SC first edition, BMW 2010 Z4,TVR Tamora, TVR Cerb, MERC SL 55 AMG, E46 M3, Z4, Jag S type R, Skyline R33 GTR 640 bhp, Evo FQ 400, L322 RR, X5, Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo, Lotus Elise 135r, Nissan Murano, Honda S2000, 911, Boxster s...and a few more |

Well,I tried to warn of this threat in February and you deleted my post with the argument,I am advertising a tool to steal cars. Now you are saying that stealing the car without keys is worrying. I just tried to point out, there is a threat to RRS owners, that has to be resolved by JLR. I then wrote you that in my opinion thieves don't need a forum like this to buy their tools... Now maybe you understand this. |

I know you did, you also posted what unit to use for all to see in your link They might not need a forum to find out how, but why list stuff to make it easier Still worrying, for those involved though with or without your posts |

This is hugely worrying. Jane, I can only sympathise. I've heard rumours of people getting jobs in service departments in places like BMW & Merc purely so that they can provide key codes, reg plates and location of vehicles to thieves that they know, etc. but this is something else. How did they get past the locks, Thatcham alarm and immobiliser...?!

While everyone seems to want to turn this into some sort of apocalyptic disaster for LR, did no-one read my first post on this thread? Or is everyone just wanting to keep flapping like the world will end tomorrow?

Good bit of kit that Disco I had a similar kit fitted to my Impreza by Clifford alarms. If i was Jane, i would be presenting this link to L/R and get them to get one fitted at their expense. Its pointless them repairing her car and not adding any further security. Its only a matter of time before it goes again i'm afraid. What are these guys doing with all the motors they steal? Shipping them abroard ? |
