A bit surprised the brake pipes are looking dodgy on such a relatively young motor !!

I have sent cars back to a main dealer to have the brake pipes replaced on cars still under the manufacturers 3 year warranty Rolling Eyes
Some of them have been pretty shocking too

I was surprised too, but the two rear most sections are bad and the cross over pipe above rear diff is so bad that a slight bit of pressure bent pipe out of shape. The other alarming issue is that the bit of floor where pipes clip to is rusting badly. It's painted with a Matt primer and having a seam running across and down, looks like a weak spot. I will go up on Monday armed with some zinc primer, wire brush and wax oil/underseal and deal with it before the boot floor rots out. Big Cry that is a worry on a five year old car!! Shocked 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

The other bit of bad news is....
Dealer tech can't seperate engine from gearbox. To do this the bolts on the flywheel need to be accessed through starter motor hole to release torque converter and as they can't rotate engine they are stuffed. Looks like a new gearbox and torque converter needed as even with a long bar with six foot pole on end, the crank will not shift.
Ho hum......... 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

First off - the corrosion warranty should be explored - its 6 years and usually like to pay on holes rather than what you describe - but worth flagging, you never know on your list

As for splitting - there will be a way...at some point they will be split, so it seems defeatist - have they never done one before? Mike

Anti corrosion guarantee is for perforation only. So wont touch it until there are holes.
My engine and box have not been split before as far as I know, land rover technical are now involved but gut of dealer service manager was that if you cannot rotate wheel for access then no other option to release torque converter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

If they strip your engine right down then surely they will be able to turn whatever they need to turn to gain access. Thumbs Up

This is a dealer Ady. They don't do stripping lol. That's dirty work Rolling with laughter
Won't even strip to investigate. Am going to suggest they take injectors out on Monday and see if it will turn then. I suspected a hydraulic lock initially and still think that may be the case. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Thats my point - at some point it will come apart Exclamation

As for the corrosion warranty - i did say about the hole part - but equally i had a defender (new) cleaned, prepared and waxoiled for surface corrosion, no perforations all done under warranty...doesnt hurt to ask/mention etc Mike

Refuse to get further stressed by the entire episode. Dealer tasked with doing a job and am sure they will
Will take some photos of the floor but it won't be fixed by LR in this sitting so makes sense to sort it myself as really do not want to get car back to then return it to body shop and have body removed again as this area really isn't accessable with body on.
Thanks for the continued help and support though Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Well...... The new engine and turbos have been fitted Thud
Tomorrow the cooling pack and brake pipes will be fitted and the body put back on.
The bumper has been repaired after a fashion, a smart repair I believe but have not seen, and expected to be on the road for Friday, and ready for collection after extensive testing on Tuesday or Wednesday. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

I would honestly get shut of it after all the faults you have been through and crud reading this thread!

What worries me is that on the FF forum there are not many 3.6 TDV8 failures so is it possibly something that is different on the SSRR packaging thats causing this?

The one i had a while back as a rental munched its engine in a similar fashion letting go of all its oil on the way back to the rental company and requiring a police escort the last few hundred yards... FFRR Owner, SSRR engine destroyer!(*2) & Creator of SSRR Smile

Thought about getting rid but heart over rules brain as when this car goes well, it is a pleasure. Not sure why they suffer more than full fat but there is obviously an issue which is why they didn't fit the V8 to facelift models. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

The beasty is up and running Bow down when I left workshop the brakes were being bled and wheels put back on. They emptied four Ltrs of 5/30 out of the exhaust system so hope to have it MOT'd in morning testing cats and then four wheel align and off to body shop to remove remainder or compound scars and fitting scratches. Censored's

Valeters doing their bit Thursday and home Friday if I can find the :censored:ing log book to tax the thing. Am promised it will look like it did when it was delivered there. Don't think that's going to happen as its covered in bird crap and as we know, that's worse than paint stripper Shocked 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
