Is that why you get a knocking noise from the front when going over small pot holes?

How much are you looking to spend?[

At the risk of sounding like a minge bag, as little as possible really. I'm trying to put away for a house deposit at the moment, so rather than be boring with it and leave it in the bank, I tend to just drive round in the deposit and put a little towards it every time, by swapping my cars every 6-12 months I tend to not loose money on them. So was looking at an 05/06 model (before the tax hikes up) and was hoping to get a bargin with car's not really selling at this time of year.

How much of a job cost-wise are these? I can have this in mind when I go view a RRS.

our TDV8 has just turned 70K and so far trouble free apart from the rear and front heated screens not working, she in the williams LR on the 4th jan to get these little problems sorted.

Previously I ran a 2008 Discovery commercial TDV6 and apart from a couple of niggles with suspension level sensors the car was a dream to own, ive moved jobs now so passed it on to another employee it now has over 180K on the clock, it was a manual car was still on the original clutch until 100K when i handed it over but now has had 3 clutches and fly wheels since.

think the RRS is like most modern cars these days with all the electronics you are bound to get some issues, but reading the forum it seems like most of the main issues are mechanical ones like the suspension bushes.

180k on the clock is pretty decent going for the Disco. I'd love a TDV8 but unfortunatly it's not the most sensible option for me. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

Yes, most probably, in most cases changing the lower wishbone fixes it. The ARB bushes are also known to make it knock but they're relatively cheap to change. They did a rubber shim for the earlier models, but the ARB bush was redesigned on later cars. You have the option of fitting a shim (linked below) or the newer bush.

Well, we had a group buy a couple of months ago and for approx £450 we got both front lower wishbones, bolts, washers, nuts and track rod ends. I did the work myself but I believe some people were quoted around £800-900 by LR to do the wishbones. I've done a guide on how to do it should you choose to DIY if you ever need to, it's not that scary.

That or anti roll bar bushes. Having new ARB bushes fitted stopped the pot hole thump on mine Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Would replacing the bushes in that kit have the same effect as new wishbones? Not sure why they would wear out.

Off Topic Go for OEM bushes - the polybushes don't fare too well with the RRS. Most people that put them on soon went back to rubber. Yes, you can change just the bushes but it's also best to do the lower ball joint too as these have been known to be part of the problem. If you get a whole wishbone then the ball joint comes as part of it Thumbs Up

Don't bother with polybushes I fitted them to the front ARB they were very noisy so had to revert to revised LR bushes no problem since..

Best to speak to LR Parts because it depends on what type of ARB you have, mine is basic no hydraulics..

My last RRS 2.7 S varient had 80k ish before change for the 12 model. No engine troubles at all.
Suspention knock and after about 25K - fixed first time by dealer (Marshall, Cambridge)
and EPB stuck on three times. otherwise very pleased with it. It never let me down.
The motoring press don't seem to like anything that is not German. The usual comment is 'footballers WAG car'. What that has to do with an evaluation of the car I'll never know.
Sorry rant over.

I'm not fussed about the image that people give a car, I tend to find that if people critizize what I am driving, it's usually because they are driving something nowhere near as good. If I like the car then that's what matters. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

I too was sceptical about reliability when I bought my 2006 TDV6 with 30k on the clock but it has now covered 111k miles and has never let me down once. It's not been fault free but to put that in perspective I 've never got my money back on an extended warranty so don't bother now.

I've had two sets of front suspension bushes and they need replacing again and the parking sensors are fickle things but had no significant electrical issues and the engine / transmission / drive train has been faultless ( I am touching wood as I type Confused ). Cosmetically, the paintwork is still in good shape and the car scrubs up well as does the interior.

I think the acid test is would I buy another one and in my case I would.
