I had same problem last year, It turned out to be a corroded switch behind piece of rubber you press to release top half of tailgate. I cleaned it up and has been ok since (6 months) |

Had this issue when I bought mine. I had to take out the switch & replace it - 5 min job if that. The old one was completely junk and white powdery.

Hi, rogerpop. Thanks, Problem solved. Used smalll screwdriver to scrape corrosion off, then gave a good dose of WD40. Although i took the complete unit out. removing the number plate cover panel.8 Star screws. This gives access to back of number plate lights and problem switch. The problem was the mechanical part of the switch, It is a hinged piece of metal, when pressed through the rubber, operates a micro switch. The hinge corrodes and get stuck, so does not operate the micro switch. Pufftmw yours could probably been saved. How much was a new one itisme |

Now, not having the split I'm not 100%, but grab your owners manual and all will be revealed.

Ok so my upper tailgate does not release at all. No response from the switch when pressed. I assume it needs replacing so a quick forum & eBay search has shown me these:

Thanks for clearing that up Scrumps. I think I should try the switch first in that case? LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch. |
