he pays you 16k lets say its from the 24k leaving him 8k change, to clear his q7 finance he needs 5k from his pocket.

so he has spent 29k and got an 07 rrs....... that was for sale at 28k

would love to see the APR on that lot....

exactly how it is, all he wants us to do is clear the engine lights. which i guess will have to happen. Iam still making a profit off the deal when he clears the finance anyway. heres hoping

This is an interesting one
I believe (although don't take this as red) that the contract is concluded, you offered your RRS for sale, your mate accepted your offer and bought it for the sum of £16k plus a Q7.
The fact that the Q7 has finance is down to you to check out - caveat emptor (buyer beware)!
Having said that I would suggest that you have a quiet chat with your mate and suggest that the deal wasn't concluded (although this may not be the case) and as such he has fraudulently obtained finance on your RRS that he (possibly) doesn't own and is (i think) a criminal offence!
Just my opinion you understand and obviously if things get messy you will need proper legal advise, Its one of those that preferably need a face to face chat to sort out rather than go down the legal route.

basically the guys took the car to a garage wants us to pay £1500 for a full repair of his car.. unsure whats gonna happen next but he says the funds are there to clear the q7.. should i pay the 1500 and get the q7 cleared off or just hand it over to the old bill?.. he knows we have both logbooks now and he seems alot more like hes wanting to do a deal.

Don't pay any more money..... doesn't sound like there was that much work to be done on yours....

Scams work by luring you in further and further.. and in an effort to try and recoup your money you throw more good money after bad !!!!!
If he is for real........
Suggest that he pay the balance outstanding on the Q7 .... less the £1,500.... and you can then clear the balance with the HP company....
OR......Better still... if as he says ... he has the money to clear the finance on the Q7.... tell him to give you that amount.... less the £1,500
DO NOT PAY HIM ANY MORE.... THIS STINKS SCAM....
If he will not agree to either immediately or comes up with more excuses.... get immediate legal advice or go to old bill...

I agree, you are being scammed...

Get some legal advice quickly and don't pay anything more until you know what your options are.

It looks like whatever route you take it's going to cost you. It may be that a £1500 loss is as good as you will get though I suspect further money will be required if you capitulate now.
