United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Tangiers Orange

Thanks guys! Smile Yeah I really like the Veuvius Orange/Red (I think the red was released for later models and is a darker colour?) which I believe was only available in the first year of production. The Tangiers Orange isn't so great but does suit the G4 vehicles.

Here's the Orange I like:

The red I'm not so keen on:

And the G4 Tangiers Orange, which just works when kitted out!!

Thanks for the offer. £20k would be stretching my finanical comfort zone at the moment, I'm also buying a house this month so it's totting up!! How come it's had a new engine? Who fitted it and is it warrantied?

Thanks Ady! Sounds like a bit of a "Friday afternoon" vehicle and, given I am going to Morocco in it this year (and who knows where next year!), I need a dependable car - don't want to be buying into trouble!

They're all a bit 'friday afternoon' in my humble opinion !
I wouldn't go to Morocco in anything but a new one !
Rolling with laughter
They do look nice in orange though!
I'd buy another and get rid before the warranty ran out if they'd treated me right with this one.
If you buy one for £17k then spend a bit of money for a proper warranty because any serious engine problem is a body off job and is always in four figures. Thumbs Up

I think you had a bad experience by the sounds of it bosun, but hopefully not all cars are the same!

I think a well looked after and then well-prepared RR Sport will cope just fine, plenty of D3's have made the same trip with no major issues. On the whole, the biggest issue is getting suitable tyres - 18" or 19" A/T tyres are vital, with a decent 3-ply sidewall to help prevent punctures!

Out of interest, do RR Sports tend to have any air suspension problems? - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)
- BMW 330Ci M-Sport coupe
- Suzuki GSX-R750 K6 'Stealth' - trackdays and high speed tourer

The problem with mine was that despite full service history and despite the fact that the timing belt isn't due until 105,000 miles,at 60k part of the front engine casing (that is an inanimate part that should last forever) Sheared off without warning causing the intact timing belt to slip off the sprockets and the valves to hit the pistons and trash the engine. And you can't even get the heads off without having a two post lift to lift the whole body off the rolling chassis. So no way to predict if its going to happen even if you replace the belt as a precaution.
And four figures and the whole body off if it does.
So I would prefer something with a chain drive cam and that is put together in such a way that major engine work can be done in situ.
Although now pretty much retired from it I was a mechanic, mot tester, and car dealer for 35 years,I still do the odd mot to keep my hand in.
I leased my garage out and built flats on my car sales site in 2007.
So believe me there was absolutely no way to predict the failure that occurred in my cars engine, the engineers report puts it down to a faulty casting which suddenly let go after 60,000 miles.
When I was deciding what do do about it I spoke to a garage in Essex that claims to be doing six engine rebuilds a week on these at £3500 a pop.
So after a lot of haggling Landrover put a brand new engine in it and I paid £4k, their initial quote was £9500 !!!
