iPod and iPhone/bluetooth connectivity on 05/6-reg RR Sports

One of the things I love about my 330Ci is the fact my iPod is permanently plugged into the boot and controlled through the widescreen TV/Sat Nav in the front, negating the need for CD's. My iPhone also connects perfectly via bluetooth.

Do all RR Sports have an iPod connection and iPhone/Bluetooth connectivity, or is there a specific model/spec (e.g. HSE) I need to get to ensure this?

I'd also like the heated rear seats to keep the missus and her mate happy when we go skiing in the winter - again, is this an HSE-only feature?

Thanks!

Kit just sold on Fleabay for not a lot. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=220973583252

That looks similar to the kit in my BMW. In fact, I wonder if my BMW kit would work? It's an Intravee kit, which replaces the CD changer enabling full iPod control and functionality.

Do they all have bluetooth connectivity as standard?

No BT as part of that at all, it's purely iPod audio. BT would need the aftermarket PTI kit. Lots on D3side re BT kits, conclusion seems to be Parrot is better.

This is disappointing! My 53-reg BMW has bluetooth built in, yet an 05-reg RR Sport doesn't - poor show, LR!!

The missus has a Parrott bluetooth thing in her car and its OK, but you can't beat fully intergrated IMO. Hmm.

So I'm probably looking at a few hundred quid to get bluetooth and iPod connection then? Unless I just use the Aux In port for the iPod, which isn't ideal...

If the car has the red and green telephone buttons on the steering wheel then you will have bluetooth

Just not i-pod control via bluetooth RRS gone

ISTR someone saying that PTI wasn't available for 05MY D3s so wouldn't be surprised if same on RRSs. Lots that LR don't give you that's been standard on cars for decades. I had one touch closure on windows & with remote locking 20years ago on a Cavalier, I think D4s & RRSs have just got it. It's a LR thing.

Yes sorry Derek is right, 2005 cars do not come with PTI

Get a parrot, had one on my 2005 D3 and it was Thumbs Up plus my wife now has the latest incarnation on her 320 Beemer which accesses the buttons on the steering wheel RRS gone

Factory BT that's standard on the new(ish) F10/11 model 5 series is so much better than on the D3 and FFRR, not only the integration but the sound quality is streets ahead. Smile

I prefer the pre-MY10 LR B/T to both the post-MY10 LR B/T and the BMW B/T (2010 X5) in terms of actual use/finding contacts

I want text messages on the instrument panel dammit ============

OK, now I'm just confused!

Firstly, what is PTI?

Secondly, do some of the earliest cars (05-reg?) have bluetooth phone connectivity, as long as they have the steering wheel buttons? If so, was this only on HSE models or other ones too?

Thirdly, I wasn't expecting iPod control via bluetooth, just want to be able to control it using the steering wheel controls like you would the headunit and a CD changer, rather than aux-in which gives poor sound quality and control only on the iPod unit itself! - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

PTI Personal Telephone integration Thumbs Up

05 do not have bluetooth module, and the general advice is fit an aftermarket one because they are heaps better for less money Thumbs Up

Only 2010 onwards has proper I-pod connectivity, and even then I'm not 100% you can control it via the steering wheel switches RRS gone

Thanks for the clarification! Something else to budget for, I guess.

I assume they all come with a CD changer somewhere, can that be replaced for an iPod 'dock' like I have in my BMW? Is that what was referred to earlier in the thread on this ebay link?

CD changer is part of the head unit, you'd need a big hammer to remove it. That kit plugs into the back of it. Easy to fit but needs a bit of car dashboard dismantling.
