Thanks Ady! Sounds like a bit of a "Friday afternoon" vehicle and, given I am going to Morocco in it this year (and who knows where next year!), I need a dependable car - don't want to be buying into trouble! |

I think you had a bad experience by the sounds of it bosun, but hopefully not all cars are the same!

The problem with mine was that despite full service history and despite the fact that the timing belt isn't due until 105,000 miles,at 60k part of the front engine casing (that is an inanimate part that should last forever) Sheared off without warning causing the intact timing belt to slip off the sprockets and the valves to hit the pistons and trash the engine. And you can't even get the heads off without having a two post lift to lift the whole body off the rolling chassis. So no way to predict if its going to happen even if you replace the belt as a precaution.
