Best way to polish out a couple of v fine scratches.

hi guys,

My car has just been washed and I have noticed a number of fine, what I call wash scratches, above the wheel arch which disappointed me, but it's the more distinctive fine scratch I want to remove.

I am sue a polish won't be enough so wondered if any of you could give me some advice please?

As always, much appreciated.

Auto glym super resin polish will sort them, but mask them also, as it has micro fillers in that fill the scratches also, which you can seal in with a wax, or Use PoorBoys black hole

Meguiers Scratch X has a bit more cut if you want to try remove them by hand

It does look like its been washed with a brush or something or a bad wash process, for a couple of hundred quid might be worth getting a single stage machine polish by a pro detailers, not some valeting company who offer it as they coud do more damage than good (unless you know them by recommendation)

Sherlock..... when I was living in London... i always got my cars hand washed... and over time .... the paintwork simply got trashed...
Expect it to keep happening unti you do it yourself....
Still... to bring the porsche back up after a couple years of abuse... I used Meguiars Scratch X2... folllowed by Autoglym super resin polish ... I clayed and ipa'd as well...before waxing..
it brought it back to top form very nicely...
I used the meguiars because it isn't too harsh and the autoglym SRP is a super product if you can live with the white dust... since yr only doing a localised job... i'll be perfect....
I buy from this website coz i like the reviews... this poorboys looks quite good as it starts as amedium abrasive and breaks down to supefine.... sounds just up yr street... or an all in one.... look under the polish section.. good luck

Cheers guys

Should I use a motorised circular polishing pad or just good quality cloths by hand?

Also Andman when you say "clayed", what do you mean.

Thinking a bit more though - would it not be better to get a polishing pad for a drill unit to get a better polish? TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

A dril Shocked
Good god, no man!

If you want to get serious and remove them to get a mirror shine like some, you'll need a polosher, you could go the rotary route, but I'd say your better off with a dual action polisher such as the DAS 6, clean your car do some good kits to get you started........but beware, it's a slippery slope! Simply put... after a while of not caring enough for the paintwork... airborn contaminants (mainly small particles of brake dust) embed themselves in yr paintwork.... run yr fingers over the paint when clean ... if you have them... you'll feel them!!.....
A clay bar is run over clean paintwork with a lubricant and it gently breaks or takes off the top of them leaving the paint smooth again.....and no damage.... AG Super resin is v usefull after
Well worth the bit of graft.. although claying the car was very therapeutic ....

To do the job properly, like andman says, you beed a decent wash, decontaminate the tar, then use a clay bar, then polosh, then seal and stand back and admire your shiny car! Cool ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Either machine polish it (but be careful as range rovers have 'sticky' paint) or pay to have it done professionally.

If you are going to hand polish it I would recommend bilt hamber auto balm.

It's a good filler polish which will mask in those fine lines, and provide a nice coat on it. If you use AB, only work on a panel at a time, and apply thinly!

Auto balm can be topped with a wax, but doesn't need to. It's a great polish for filling in the fine scratches and I think you'd be more than happy with the results MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports

Good advice guys. Am thinking a Prof machine polish then I can keep on top of it. Am getting my new grill and vents fitted this week and my driver lights and lower grill colour coded.
