another consideration is the winter/autumn ambient temps....ie no air con every trip and better air temp for combustion Thumbs Up RRS gone

both good points.. Thumbs Up I'll see what distance i'm able to cover with this tank and report back.. I always use my air-con - otherwise the car steams up if it's damp...

it is very puzzling though..

OK - I've done the exact same change as the OP. Changed from 20" conti"s to 19" wintrac extremes and got the exact same result. My MPG display has changed from averaging 26mpg to now being 32mpg. I've only changed the wheels over this weekend so will report back in a couple of weeks.

the ride is definitely better on 19's too.

Ive noted that the fuel heater can knock around 2mpg off depending on use Mike
