According to the manual the steering column AND the driver's seat should move on entry and exit. On mine (MY11 AB) only the steering column moves. Should I:

a) Stop reading the manual
b) Read some more
c) Complain

You raise an interesting point as I also own a MY11 HSE and on most occasions the steering wheel and seat do move to I guess what is called the "access mode" However, on some occasions the seat and steering wheel move a great deal more in that if I open the door and stay seated I am left in a significant recline!

Not yet raised this issue with the dealer but I can guess the response of NFF!

I've noticed the same myself (after philmw mentioned it) and wonder if the seat not moving is related to its position being stored in memory, rather than the seats last position. Must try and set the memory and see if the seat and steering wheel both move.

I find with mine that the steering wheel only moves up a fraction because I have it nearly all the way up anyway and the seat does not move at all because I need it all the way down while I am driving to get enough headroom. It's a good idea in theory but it's just a shame the wheel does not retract like it does in the FFRR. 12MY RRS Orkney Grey HSE Lux

Try putting the seat up higher , then switching the car off. The seat should then drop to a more accessable height. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Silly question I know, but do all models have the seat movement aswell as the steering wheel ?
I know on my E60 BMW only the wheel moved

It moves both the wheel and seat on my model

Naturally though it stands to reason that if you have yr seat in a position whereby it's relatively low and relatively far back from the wheel, the seat isn't going to move, but on mine (cos I'm a short ass) the wheel moves up and away and the seat down and back  Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Thanks all. Getting somewhere - the seat moves down (at the rear) on exit if raised - my normal position is fully down anyway so hadn't noticed. 

As others report, It can only lower the seat if its in a high position . It also depends on which one of your 2 remote control keys you are useing itisme

Check the position of the Electric column switch, is it set to Auto ???? In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

The seat and steering wheel move relative to the normal set position you have them to eg, if them moving doesnt give you more room then it wont.

Also if you open the door or something like that, in the wrong order or too quickly it wont/doesnt work. Mike

Have you stored your driving position into 1 of the 3 memory?

After turning the car off, (post 2010) and you open the door (if the position is stored in memory) then the seat should move back and down.
