Fuel burning heater, warms the cabin up when the temp drops below 5c which is most of the time here high up in the Derbyshire Dales Sad

FBH does not warm the cabin, i think that park remote heating or similar, FBH gets the engine to its optimum operating temperature quicker and works at temps below 5c. Chris, is there no FBH on the new model, or do you lack the park heating control? I thought all the RRS's had a FBH to assist with keeping the engine working at optimum temp in cold weather when there is a greater demand from the heaters etc?

There is FBH on new models but as you say he is confusing this with park heat control, two different things Thumbs Up MY10 3.0 HSE Santorini Black, Ivory Premium & extended leather, privacy, paddles, diamond turned alloys, Ipod lead that charges, tasmods, rrsport.co.uk stickers

Not sure which is which very confused, didn't think my new one had either but perhaps it does???

Just found this:
http://www.disco4.com/wiki/index.php/Fuel_Burning_Heater

Fuel Burning Heater
From DISCO3.CO.UK Knowledge Base

Discovery 3 TDV6 may be fitted with a Webasto Thermo Top V fuel burning heater, and is used in the Discovery 3 to provide auxiliary heating of the engine coolant during cold weather. This is largely to aid emissions and to speed up cabin warm up.

Seems to agree with me that the FBH does warm the cabin up and operates below +6c rather than sub zero. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Detailed it today with all the bits you all recommended

First of all snow foamed it twice mainly to have a good play with the gun and dilutions.

Bilberried the wheels

Washed it with Meguirs and my posh new buckets with grit guards

Dried using a large fluffy towel

Waxed the alloys,3 coats.

Finished result

Thought I might as well do both whilst I'd got all the stuff out.

Only downside now is that once the sun came out yesterday I could see how badly scratched it was after the dealer prep so took it back for them to see before I'd washed it,they must have used a bristle brush to wash it,the roof is particulary horrendous, this is what one of the pillars looks like as an example.
It's now got to go back to be machine polished to get all the scratches out !!

Just to clarify it was frosty here this morning and temp was -1c FBH is fitted and came on and did blow warm air into the cabin. Also unless I'm imagining it the defrost function came on automatically !
The LTT Auto Ultra Kit arrived this morning, the foam got the jean dye off and I've now put the Ultra Protect protective layer on so we'll see how that performs over the next few days.
Bit disapointed with the size of the bottles and the literature supplied for the amount it cost,I've used about half the foam on the 1st use to ensure the front seats were clean before applying the 2nd stage Ultra Protect Shocked MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Doing what? Personally contributing? It doesn't get you out of it, it reduces it....... I'm suffering the whole lot at the minute but am looking into a personal contribution via dividend monthly on Chris' recommendation Thumbs Up

Ronnie,
As Jonny has said it doesn't remove it just reduces it,we still have to pay tax on the contribution but it is about 23% so saves 17% on about half of the total so say roughly a saving of 8% which is a considerable saving on a P11D of £55K.
I've just worked it out roughly using an on-line tax calculator and on mine it will save me about £1309 or £109/month so in effect nearly pays for the annual insurance cost. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Chris well done mate - good seeing you cleaned the car exactly how it says on the tin - are you going to wax it too, to protect it? A rub over of Collys or Dodo Supernatural would leave it looking great - with an occasional rapid detail all that would be needed to keep it clean...

Also proves a point that dealer prep is indeed awful - so if you're getting a brand new car - don't let them touch it once off the transporter and get a detailer in to clean it - it's the only way. Have not bought brand spanking new for a while, but if I ever did, then thats the way to go

Nick,
I've got the Collinite 476 wax and the Zaino Z8 GF detailing spray ready to go but I can't get it back into the dealer for 2 weeks as I'm really busy delivering and commisioning due to the NHS last minute rush.
Working in Leeds,York(a prison) and Manchester this week then off to Glasgow,Perth and Inverness next week so really looking forward to that.
Once it's had the scratches they caused machine polished out I'll have a couple of days off and finish the job and post the results.

Also now sorted out the private plates so they should be on next week Thumbs Up

Tracker Locate going in tomorrow to keep the insurance company happy. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

You could not be using a better wax, good call mate (ok this side of swissvax and £1000 more!) and the detailing spray will help...

Changing plates so soon? don't want to ride the 11 new plate for 6 months??
